FACED Analysis

Facts: In response to what is ostensibly subpar service, the document lays out additional

obligatory training sessions for nursing unit support staff. The new head nurse is committed to

ensuring high-quality service delivery in order to satisfy the expectations of residents and the

community. The writer pledges that she will enforce these standards.

Assumption: The head nurse makes the assumption that the hospital staff is failing to

fulfill standards due to a lack of motivation or expertise due to a lack of training. It also

presumes that managers and supervisors can motivate and control employees using harsh

language and punishment.

Expectations: The objective tone of this document fails to acknowledge the hard work

and sacrifices made by the team. It does not provide any helpful advice for bettering oneself and

does not acknowledge some areas for development. The document states that employees are

expected to attend re-training sessions without being informed of their purpose or goal. Penalties

for rule violations can cause friction and a negative attitude.

Choice: rework the message to emphasize an encouraging, optimistic, and motivating

atmosphere. Positive criticism, teamwork, and learning should always take precedence.

Decision: Rewrite the message in such a manner that will encourage a positive,

supportive, and motivational culture at the workplace. Stress the aspects of teamwork, learning.

and improvement, and always offer meaningful and encouraging feedback.

Updated The message

subject: Upcoming re-training sessions

The entire staff, you have worked tirelessly to ensure that Sweet Life After is a

welcoming and comfortable environment for our residents, and I, as the new head nurse, am truly

grateful. The 35th year of our organization's existence will be a resounding success, in my

opinion. In order to maintain alignment and make improvements, we will retrain on June 21 and

22. Between the hours of 9:00 and 1:00 and 2:00 and 4:00 in the afternoon. At these seminars,

we are able to learn about the most recent innovations in the field and concentrate on fixing any

problems that have shown up so that our service is better. Although it is mandatory that you be

present, I hope you will take this opportunity to elevate your status. We will discuss important

matters in order to enhance resident service and keep ourselves recognized as the best retirement

community in Hamilton. I would love to be a member of a group that champions your ideas

because I think they are great. Your help and commitment to providing excellent service are

greatly valued. Sweet Life After is something we are making and should be proud of.

Warm regards,

Dear Sir/Madam,

Senior Nurse

Community for the Delightful Life After Retirement

Comprehensive Evaluation

Reliable sources: The original message states that the nursing support personnel would be

required to undergo re-training on June 21 and 22, due to deficiencies that have been detected.

The head nurse is committed to maintaining high standards and enhancing patient care. The staff

is underperforming, and the top nurse thinks they need retraining. Staff members' efforts,

contributions, and external factors impacting performance may be overlooked by this

assumption. Negative reinforcement and constructive criticism are ignored by the belief that

harshness will motivate staff.

Authoritarian, condescending, and heartless characterize the initial memo's tone and style

of communication. The staff's efforts and difficulties are disregarded. Encouraging, motivating,

and clarifying training goals and benefits are all components of effective communication. A

hostile work environment and demoralized employees can result from the original memo's

menacing tone.

The expectations laid out in the memo are unambiguous and severe. Although it is critical

to set clear expectations, the manner in which they are conveyed can influence employee

compliance and morale. The memo should highlight the positive aspects of the training, promote

cooperation, and outline specific objectives, rather than discouraging participation.

The decision is to rewrite the memo in a more upbeat, encouraging, and inspiring tone. The

updated message gives credit where credit is due, highlights the benefits of the training sessions,

and calls for teamwork. In an effort to increase engagement and morale among employees, the

revised message places an emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, and direct,

constructive criticism.

In summary

I am deeply concerned by the new head nurse's authoritarian, harsh, and heartless memo

on the Sweet Life After Retirement Community. According to the FACED study, employees

need a positive and inspiring communication style that acknowledges their work, explains the

value of the training clearly, and encourages teamwork. In order to increase engagement and

morale among employees, the reworked messaging places an emphasis on teamwork, continuous

improvement, and transparent, constructive criticism.
