PURPOSIVE COMMUNICATION MODULE 2

COMMUNICATION FOR VARIOUS PURPOSES

Lesson1: LETTER ASKING FOR INFORMATION/INQUIRY LETTER

Letter Inquiry. It is defined as a letter written to request information or a letter of interest. It may ask
information about products, services, special price, favors in response to advertisements before deciding to buy a product,
or to develop a new business (Mandour, 2012).
It is also described as the letter that presents what the writer wants to know and why (Kwan, 2015). It should be
clear and has specific subject such as textbook, computer equipment and others.

WHAT TO REMEMBER?
1. Don’t place an order.
2. It is the first communication between two parties.
3. Only inquire about the product or good.

Thurner (2018) explains that inquiry letter is a letter written to request information and or ascertain its authenticity. It
covers topic which includes opportunities for work, studentships, ventures, and other business or in school.
