COURSE DESCRIPTION
Management principles is a very comprehensive introductory course on the management function and process
from a manager’s perspective, with particular emphasis on the skills, competencies, techniques, and knowledge
needed to successfully manage on organization. This course explores the basic concepts, function, and process
of management in details.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the course are:
▪ To overview the environment and stakeholder impact the organization in modern business perspective
▪ To provide the four “Pillars” of management function such as planning, organizing, leading and
controlling for systematic understanding of management-related challenges and applying conceptual
tools and techniques in analyzing, evaluating and addressing management issues.
▪ To introduce the students with the fundamental roles focuses on the entire organization from both short
and long-term perspective for strategic vision, setting objectives, crafting a strategy and then
implementing it.
▪ To enable students to develop short and long-range plans to effectively accomplish organizational goals
and develop the skills related to the manager’s function as required in today’s competitive environment.
STUDENTS’ LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, students are able to:
▪ Understand the managers manage business organization in the dynamic global environment
▪ Explore the organizations develop and maintain competitive advantage
▪ Practice the business decisions are made using various tools and techniques to remain competitive
▪ Use problem-solving strategies and critical thinking skills in real-life situation
▪ Reflect the concept of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling in organization.
▪ To formulate the different type of planning and the successful implementation.
COURSE PREREQUISITES : N/A

LECTURER’S EXPECTATIONS
Students must be able to show up for every session. They are encouraged to participate in all class activities.
Students are responsible for taking detailed notes of all class proceedings. It is essential that students read all
assigned texts/chapters before attending class. Additionally, students must complete their assignments and
homework early or on time. Finally, students must not miss their midterm and final exam.

Class Attendance: This will be monitored for each student, as they need to participate in class. Note
that students must maintain a minimum level of attendance in order to meet the requirements of their
awards. Scholarship students must attend a minimum of 75% of classes, or a maximum of 12 absence
hours. All other students must attend a minimum of 60% of classes, or a maximum of 18 absence hours.
Allocation of marks in undergraduate courses: The questions in the tests and examinations are derived from
what is covered in the lectures, any additional materials provided, together with relevant portions of the text book.
Evaluation of the students’ overall letter grades will be based on the following modes of assessment:
Attendance 15%
Class Activities and other Assignments (Quizzes) 25%
Mid-Term Exam (Centralize Exam) 30%
Final Exam (Centralize Exam) 30%
TOTAL 100%
Note: Students caught cheating – by copying the work of others or any other means – will have the marks
from that test, assignment or exam excluded from their final grades (and they run the risk of further
penalties).

Categorization of the final marks for undergraduate courses: Letter grade shall be interpreted as the
following and scholarship students need to maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 in order retain their
scholarships.
