CNC Mill Setup Procedures:
1. Basic start-up
a) Turn on light from behind (power bar).
b) Turn on main power switch from the side.
c) Turn on computer switch (using control panel inside the machine on the right).
d) Release E-Stop x2 (red bu?ons one top right in front, and one on control panel).
e) Start machine (green start bu?on).
i. Click flashing reset bu?on on the screen.
f) Home the z-axis (click “ref z”).
g) Home the x-axis (click “ref x”).
h) Home the y-axis (click “ref y”).
2. Prepara9on
a) Measure tool 1 (3/8”) and tool 2 (1/4”) height with digital height gauge.
i. Input into off-set tab.
b) Place stock in vice.
i. Add parallel plates (3/4”).
c) Change tool to 0.
d) Lower z-axis to the surface of the stock.
i. Zero the z-axis.
e) Raise the z-axis, input tool.
i. Hold release bu?on and insert the tool.
f) Zeros the X and Y axis.
i. Bo?om leZ-corner of the upper face of the stock.
ii. Center of the end mill aligned with edges.
3. Generate code.
a. Conversa[onal tab
b. Place the USB key in the CNC.
4. Execute procedure.
a. First [me code, select single block, execute line by line un[l tool commits to stock.
b. Feed hold
i. Used with spacebar to an[cipate failure.
5. Clean-up
a. Use air blower to clean tool and stock.
b. Remove stock.
c. Shut-off machine.
i. E-stops
ii. Turn off computer (exit bu?on).
iii. Switch off computer.
iv. Switch off main.
v. Switch off lights in the back.
CNC Lathe setup Procedure:
1. Basic start-up
a) Turn on light from behind.
b) Turn on main power switch.
c) Release the E-stop x2 (red bu?ons).
i. E-Stop on the lathe.
ii. E-Stop on the control Panel.
d) Start machine (green start bu?on).
e) Click reset (flashing bu?on).
f) Home the x-axis (click on “ref x”).
g) Home the z-axis (click on “ref z”).
2. Prepara9on
a) Install the work piece.
i. Max 3” to avoid vibra[on è measure with the blue tool.
b) Set G30
i. Use the most protruding tool as reference for the z-direc[on.
ii. Clear turret from chuck for x-direc[on.
iii. Click “set G30”.
c) Change tool to 1 (right-hand cu`ng tool)è input T 01 in G-code command bar.
i. Zero in Z (Cut the front face of the workpiece).
1. Bring the tool cut < 1mm depth in z-direc[on (over the surface).
2. Turn on coolant.
3. Set RPM to 500.
4. Set jog speed to 5-10% (ensure slider is selected).
5. Turn on FWD for spindle.
6. Move in nega[ve x-direc[on (keyboard command up and down), cut past
halfway of diameter (con[nuous jog movement).
7. Pull-back in x-direc[on.
8. Click big “Stop” bu?on (stops both coolant and spindle).
9. Set as Z-zero (click on “zero z”).
ii. Zero in X (cut the surface of the workpiece).
1. Set posi[on at <0.1mm depth in x-direc[on (in front of the face).
2. Turn on coolant.
3. Set RPM to 500.
4. Set jog speed to 5-10%.
5. Turn on FWD for spindle.
6. Move in nega[ve z-direc[on (keyboard command leZ and right), cut about 5mm
(con[nuous jog movement)
7. Pull-back in z-direc[on.
8. Click “stop” bu?on.
9. Measure the new diameter using the digital caliper from underneath.
10. Input the diameter in bo?om center x(diameter) box.
3. Execute Code
a) Load code
i. Execute code provided in files tab.
b) Press “cycle start”.
4. Clean-up.
a) Remove Stock.
b) Shut-off machine.
i. E-stops.
ii. Turn off computer (exit bu?on).
iii. Switch off main.
iv. Switch off lights.
