REGIONAL STUDENT CONFERENCE 2024
Learning Journal
Name Mike Jerome S. Andaya Date 10/21/24
Brief Description of the Event
Electrical engineering students from universities throughout Luzon gathered for an event filled with
seminars, quiz shows, and social activities, fostering collaboration and camaraderie among future engineers.
Description of the Venue
The event took place at Holy Angel University in Angeles, Pampanga, a spacious campus with two
dedicated buildings for the seminars and quiz shows. The venue offered ample space and facilities, perfectly
accommodating the diverse activities and numerous participants.
Learning Experience
Day 1: Seminars & Socialization Night
The day kicked off with a series of insightful seminars exploring contemporary issues within the electrical
engineering industry. These sessions provided a deeper understanding of current challenges and emerging
trends, shedding light on the two distinct career paths within the field: academia and industry. The speaker
highlighted the unique demands and rewards of each path, emphasizing the importance of aligning one's
career choices with long-term goals. The revelation that transitioning from industry to academia is less
straightforward than the reverse proved particularly insightful for those contemplating their future career
trajectories.
The evening was dedicated to fostering camaraderie and connections through a communal dinner and
social activities. Mingling with students from other universities, engaging in fun games, and forging new
bonds created a vibrant and memorable experience.
Days 2 & 3: Testing Knowledge and Teamwork on the Quiz Shows
The second and third days were dedicated to intense quiz competitions, testing our knowledge and quick
thinking in various electrical engineering topics. Despite fierce competition, our school performed
admirably, qualifying for nationals in one of the three quiz shows. The experience showcased our
preparedness and teamwork, demonstrating the value of hard work and collaboration. While we didn't
secure the top spot, the experience was invaluable, fostering a sense of pride in supporting our classmates
and witnessing their hard work pay off.
A Lasting Impact:
This event was more than just an academic gathering. It provided a platform for learning, competition, and
building lasting connections with fellow electrical engineering students from across Luzon. The insights
gained from the seminars, the challenges faced during the quiz shows, and the bonds forged during the
social events will undoubtedly stay with us as we embark on our future careers.
