Chapter 3
Methodology
This chapter present the discussion on the research methodology of the study, the
subjects, sampling technique, research instrument, procedure od data gathering and statistical
treatment that will be used for accurate data analysis and interpretation. And present the
description of the research process. It provides concerning the method that was used in
undertaking this research as well as a justification for the use of this method. The chapter also
describes the various stages of the research, which includes the selection of participants, the data
collection process, and the process of data analysis. The chapter also discusses the role of the
researcher in qualitative research in relation to reflexivity.
Research Design
This qualitative research study at Mindanao State University Wao Community High
School focused on exploring senior high school students’ perceptions of the impact of study
techniques on the learning outcomes. Through semi structured interviews and focus group
discussions with purposive sample of students, the study delved into the experiences and
perspectives of participants.
Respondents of the Study
The population that the researchers selected are the STEM Students in Mindanao State
University Wao Community High School that has a total population of one hundred eighty-six
(186) students. Ninety-two (92) students from Grade 11 and ninety-four (94) students from
Grade 12 students as their respondents due to the fact that they are inclined to The Impact of
Study Techniques on the Learning Outcomes of Senior High School Students.

Locale of the Study
The local of the study is Mindanao State University Wao Community High School in the
Philippines. This educational institution serves as the primary setting where the research
activities, data collection, and interaction with senior high school students in Mindanao State
University. The school environment provides a crucial backdrop for exploring the students’
perceptions of the impact of the study technique on the learning outcome of senior high school
students.

Sampling Technique
The sample participants were selected based on specific criteria related to their
insights and experiences regarding of the impact of study technique on the learning outcome. In
this study, the participants were senior high school students at Mindanao State University Wao
Community High School who were willing to share their perspectives on the topic. The selection
criteria included students who were actively engaged in academic activities and had varied
experience to the impact of study technique on the learning outcomes in their academic journey.

Research Instrument
The research instrument refers to the tool or technique used to collect data in a research
study. In this study, the researchers used Semi-structured interview as the research design to
collect data and information needed. An interview is a research instrument, asking one or more
people about their opinions on a company, a product, or a topic. This method allows researchers
to obtain detailed information that might not be available through other research methods. The
interview was validated by the teachers who has expertise that relates towards the topic of this
research. An interview consists of a set of questions for the purpose of gathering information
personally and directly from the subjects to help us describe the influence of music in the
student’s well-being.
Procedures of Data Gathering
In this study, the data gathering procedure involved several steps to ensure the collection
of reliable and relevant information. First, an interview with several questions is proposed by the
researchers and consulted one of the teachers to validate the instrument they constructed.
Second, the researchers selected the subjects of the study who are Senior High School Students.
The interview was conducted in person. The interview is conducted in which the subjects have
the freedom to answer all the questions, where the questions are also open-ended. The
researchers also seek permission and information of consent from the subjects if they are willing
to participate and be a part of the study for the researchers to gather information.
Treatment of Data
Data treatment, also known as data preprocessing, is a critical step in the data analysis
process that involves cleaning, transforming, and organizing raw data to make it suitable for
analysis. It also serves several important purposes across various domain and industries. After
collecting the finished papers of the questioners, the researchers recorded the answer of their
individual respondents. After collecting the data would be necessary to organize and clean it to
ensure that it is complete. Checking for missing data and errors are involved. The results of the
analysis will then be interpreted to make recommendations based on the findings of the analysis.
Overall, the treatment of data would involve through and systematic approach to ensure that
validity and reliability of this findings and to contribute our understanding of the impact of the
study technique on the learning outcome of senior high school students of Mindanao State
University Wao Community High School.
Data Analysis
The questioner for the Senior High School Students gave a very general sense of their
background, difficulties, and learning strategy use. The data from the Mindanao State University
Wao Community High School Students in Wao Lanao del Sur was categorized into the three
types of strategies to see if there were any significant variations between or within individual
learners. The background characteristics also were compared with the Mindanao State University
Wao Community High School results to see if there was any intervention or causal links from
other factors. However, the results of these questioner can’t provide generalized information for
participants, the researchers cross-checked the results for each participant and identified possible
connections to the research questions. The researcher also compared cases to find similarities and
differences.
