Exercise 1
A vibratory movement is characterized by the following displacement:

Where x is in centimeters, t is in seconds and the phase is in radians.

1- Determine the maximum amplitude.
2- Give the natural pulsation, frequency and period of the movement.
3- Express the initial phase (phase shift at the origin).
4- Calculate the displacement, speed and acceleration at times t=0s and t=0.5s.

Exercise 2
A mechanical system consisting of a bar of negligible mass connected by a spring of stiffness
k is represented in figure 1

Figure 1
For small oscillations, determine for the system in figure 1
1. The Lagrangian.
2. The differential equation of motion.
3. The proper pulsation and the general solution
4. The differential equation of movment as well as the general solution without doing
calculations
Exercise 3
The ratio k⁄m of a mass-spring system is equal to 4. If the mass is moved 4 cm from its
equilibrium position and released with a speed of -4 cm/s, determine the expression x as a
function of t.

Exercise 4
Write the equation of movment of the system, shown in the figure. Deduce the period of the
free oscillations.

Exercise 6
You are given a disk of mass M, of moment of inertia J linked by two springs, one at the
center O, the other at point A distant by (R/2) from point O sliding without friction along the
axis Ox as shown in figure 5.

Figure 5p
