ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

First, I will take this opportunity to thank God for this life and for the far He has brought me. I
will also praise Him to be with me since I joined the institution till my final semester. I would
also like to thank the head of this department Mr. Gregory Wairiru for being with me and
ensuring the project is well successful. I will also appreciate the effort of Mr. Fredrick Kiarie as
my Supervisor who ensured the project came to conclusion, and for his directions. I will also
take this moment to thank my family whom supported me during the resources and for their
prayers.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

1.0 Business description.


This chapter consists of business name, the location of the business and address, type and form
of ownership, production and service goals of the business justification of opportunity, the
Company entry and growth strategy and the unique features of the products.

2.0 Market plan.


It entails comparison of my products and those of my competitors, plan to capitalize on the
weakness of my competitors, strength and weakness of my competitors, market share, the
method of promotion, permits and by-laws, and advertisement, distribution strategy & pricing
strategy.

3.0 Organization structure and management.


It contains of personnel, numbers and duties, recruitment training and promotion, permit and by-
laws.

4.0 Operation and production plan.


In this chapter, it talks about operation plan, production strategy and production process.

5.0 Financial Plan.


This chapter talks about Pre-Operational cost, Operational cost, estimated working capital,
business capitalization, projected cashflow and balance sheet.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 Business Description

1.1 Business Name:


Construction of a manhole.

As the name of the business suggests, manhole is a pit formed below ground through which the
drain runs in an open channel. It facilitates smoothly run-out water and sewage from various
points which makes environment look clean and hygienic.
1.2 Business location and address.
The business site is located at Busia County, Buhulu sub-county, Marachi west constituency,
Buyumba sub-location in Bumala location. 2 Km from Kisumu - Busia road junction (road to
Buyumba High School).

1.6 Industry
Manhole Construction will be legally licensed and permitted from the county government of
Busia.
The industry shall acquire both human labour and machine operation for technical operation. As
for machines, this will make easy work and fast.
The industry shall employ humans to work for them to get their daily basis.

1.7 Goals and Objectives

1.7.1 Short term goals


a) Ensure the employees are being paid on time.
b) Availability of materials to the industry.
c) Recruiting fully skilled and qualified personnel.

1.7.2 Long term goals


a) Purchase well trucks for transportation of materials.
b) Purchasing excavators for easy work.
c) Open up more branches at different places within the county.

1.8 Entry and Growth Strategy

1.8.1 Entry Strategy


The business will be fully opened on January at Butula Technical College for the start. The
business will be new, so I will start by cheap price to my customers so they will be coming for
my commodities from the beginning. I will be buying materials from various companies which
will be selling for me at affordable price to make the sure I don't get loss.

1.8.2 Growth Strategy


This talks about how I will grow my business.
For the business to grow, this need concentration from my clients and customers. I will also sell
good and valuable product to my customers. When the business grows, I will open branches---
In a particular area, which will make me to open other business across the country.

2.0 Marketing Plan
2.1 Customers
This chapter contains customers targeted, market share, methods of promoting details on
marketing plan, competitors of the business and pricing strategies.

These will be customers around who as a person want to be constructed a manhole on their
home, one bridge, even a concrete fence.

2.1.2 Institutional Customers


This will be customers from institutions like Butula T.V.C, hospitals, Busiaoda Girls and also a
company Building and Construction Company.

To any business there must be competitors. They can either make your business to grow and
succeed or to end up the business.

2.4 Methods of Advertising and promotional


2.4.1 Advertising
For advertisement, I'll use social media to advertise my business. The reason why I prefer media
for advertisement, this is because of the expenses, and it will reach more people across the
country. Depending on financial, I'll be advertising my business once twice a month which will
cost me 1,500 Ksh for advertisement.

2.4.2 Promotional strategy


The promotion will depend on goods and services to my customers. I'll use bound gifts and at
first, the services will be less cheaper. The promotion will be done once a month on a period of
three days. I will set aside 5,000 shillings for promotional services.
2.5 Distribution strategy
For distribution of materials, I'll be using direct channel.

Road will be the main means of transport to be used. Below are examples of the machines to be
used for transportation.

This will depend on the distance of transportation and type of vehicle to be used.
