TYPES OF ELEVATORS
There are main 3 types of Elevators :
(A) Traction elevators (C) Hydraulic elevators
(B) PVE(Pneumatic Vacuum Elevator)

TYPES OF ELEVATORS
1. TRACTION ELEVATOR :
This type of elevator operates via a pulley system,
using steel ropes or belts and a counterweight, to
move the cabin up and down. There are two types
of traction elevators: gearless traction and geared
traction. Gearless traction elevators are the more
advanced solution, with a wheel attached directly
to the motor, and counterweights are used to
operate the hoisting system. Geared traction uses
a gearbox to turn the hoisting sheave and lift the
elevator. These systems are usually slower than
gearless systems.

2. PVE(PNEUMATIC VACUUM ELEVATOR)
The pneumatic vacuum elevator is formed by a
cylindrical vertical shaft, and a car which moves
inside. For ascending operations, the vacuum
system on the top of the elevator, draws air from
above the seal of the car on the interior of the
cylinder creating a low pressure area located
above the cabin seal.

3. HYDRAULIC ELEVATOR :
This type of hoist system is usually only used in
low-rise buildings, typically up to six stories
high, or to transport extremely heavy loads.
Hydraulic elevators are lifted by pistons from
below. These elevators require more energy to
operate than other elevator models and, due to
the introduction of machine room-less elevators
with high-efficiency machines and drives, have
largely been replaced in the elevator market.

TYPES OF ELEVATORS
Other types of elevators are :
1. Passenger Elevator :
Purpose : To transport people.
Passenger lift has auto door as well as manual door.
2. Service Elevator :
Purpose : To transport goods
Goods lift has manual door.
3. Freight Elevator :
A freight elevator is intended to move very heavy loads, such as cars or cargo, in industrial buildings. These
elevators are not intended for passenger transport and are designed to withstand tougher working conditions,
which is why their interiors are focused on heavy steel walls and floors rather than more attractive options.

4. Dumbwaiter :
A dumbwaiter is a small freight elevator. It is often used for the transport of food in restaurants. However, they can
be found in both commercial and private buildings.
5. Cabin Lift :
Cabin lifts are a type of lift that few people outside of the lift industry know about or would even consider for their project.
They are a hybrid solution between a fully enclosed platform lift and a passenger lift.
6. Wheelchair Lift :
A wheelchair lift is raised and lowered using one of two systems, a screw drive or hydraulic drive. A screw drive lift uses a long screw
shaft with a drive nut, which moves the lift up and down the shaft. Hydraulic lifts, in contrast, raise and lower the platform by filling and
releasing fluid into rams or pistons.
7. Capsule Lift :
Capsule lifts are those specialized lifts that are installed on the exteriors of structures or the lobby to enhance the look and
elevation of the building or structure.
