Goal-Setting and Self-Reflection (Reflect on the following questions and set goals for improvement)
In which core competencies/areas/subjects do I feel I am strongest and why?
I feel that I am strongest in understanding my emotions and thoughts. I can easily identify what I am feeling and why. I can also
problem solve if I am feeling upset. I can control my emotions when it is appropriate. I am also able to easily understand other
students’ emotions. I can put myself in other people shoes and help and sympathizes.
In which core competencies/areas/subjects do I need improvement and why? (Options: Communication, Thinking or Personal/Social skills)
I feel that I can work even more on my organization skills. I have a huge problem of procrastinating certain task. Namely, studying.
Not even homework but studying. I dread it for certain classes, especially science, because you can do simply things like solving a
word problem to study. This is why I would like to have a strict schedule every day after school. I can organize smaller periods of
studying time in between other activities so I do not feel as overwhelmed.
What specific steps can I take to improve my competencies/abilities in these areas? Who can help me reach my goal? How will I know if I have reached my goal?
1- Creating a schedule (as mentioned before)
2- Motivating myself
3- Being hopeful for positive results
4- Being consistent
I think that my family could help motivate me by cheering me on or saying how proud they are after I succeed on a test or project.
This will make me want to continue. I will know that I have reach my goal when I no longer need motivation or hope of succeeding,
because I have fallen into a pattern and it presents itself as normal to me.
