Job Title: Quality Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Quality Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary:
The Quality Engineer will serve as the internal self-release delegate, supporting Final Inspection DQR process. The
QE will lead and/or participate in continuous improvement activities pertaining to process improvements, RC&CA,
MRB, Internal/External Audits, and product development. The QE will provide technical support to the
engineering, inspection and manufacturing team as needed.
Sample Job description for Quality Engineer:
Support the maintenance of ISO9001 and AS9100 systems and perform internal audits.
Liaison to external auditors, and customer audit reviews. Participate in Supplier Quality Audits.
Generate in-process and final inspection methods documentation defining and utilizing proper inspection
techniques and tools.
Prepare and/or review Delta FAIRs, UPPAP, and First Article Package for customer approval.
Prepare, and submit deviation requests for approval using customer portals based on customer
requirements.
Identify and implement ideas that will improve inspection methods or enhance the effectiveness of the
inspection process and Quality Management System.
Promote changes supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Lead Six Sigma, Kaizen and other Lean
Manufacturing programs and philosophies.
Maintains CMM program library, and coordinate calibration and maintenance of CMM machines. May
write programs for CMM machines in PC-DMIS.
Support business development by participating in customer contract reviews
Qualification/Skill:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Quality Engineering with minimum of 3 yrs. and/or +7 years of
experience in an Aerospace Quality Control environment
Working knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 standards including internal auditing of the company QMS.
Prior experience as DQR (holding stamps), and/or must have the desire to undergo DQR training, and
become DQR certified for several major turbine engine OEMs.
Well-rounded knowledge of manufacturing processes and practices, thorough understanding and
knowledge of GD&T practices.
Experience with MS Office programs required. Experience with PC-DMIS, DISCUS, and VISUAL
Manufacturing ERP a big plus.
Experience facilitating third-party audits including NADCAP, internal and customer audits.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; a solutions-orientated team player with strong verbal and
written communication skills.
Read and Thoroughly understand engineering and Blueprint specifications.
Experience in Audits.
Maintenance of Quality Management system.
Experience in FAIR, PPAP & FMEA.
Experience in Inspection Techniques.
