Computer Networks Lab Assignment - 6

Objective: To configure a DHCP Server on a network setup and verify IP address

allocation and connectivity in Cisco packet tracer.
Scenario:
You are provided with 3 PCs, 2 Laptops, and 1 Server connected to a Switch. Follow the
steps below to configure the network and demonstrate correct DHCP functionality and
connectivity.
Instructions:
Step 1: Configure the Switch
1. Click on the switch and turn it off.
2. In the Physical tab, add two additional ports using the PT-SWITCH-NM-1CE module if
the switch has fewer than six ports to connect all devices.
3. Turn the switch back on.
Step 2: Configure the DHCP Server
1. Click on the server, navigate to Desktop -> IP Configuration.
2. Select Static and set:
- IPv4 Address to `10.0.0.1`
- Subnet Mask to `255.0.0.0`
3. Go to Services -> DHCP:
- Set the Default Gateway to `10.0.0.1` and save.
- Ensure DHCP is enabled and then start the service by clicking the start option at the top.
Step 3: Verify IP Address Allocation
1. On each PC and Laptop, check the IP address allocated by the DHCP server:
- Click on each PC/Laptop, go to Desktop -> IP Configuration.
- Select DHCP and wait a few seconds for the IP address to be assigned.
- Attach screenshots of the IP Configuration window showing the DHCP-assigned IP
addresses.
Step 4: Test Connectivity Between Devices
1. From one of the PCs or Laptops, navigate to Desktop -> Control Panel and perform the
following:
- Ping the IP address of any other PC or Laptop on the network.
- Attach a screenshot of the ping command showing a successful response. <ping <space>
target_IPaddr>
Report Submission:
Create a report containing the following screenshots:
1. Network Setup: A screenshot showing the entire network setup (switch, PCs, Laptops,
and server).
2. DHCP-Assigned IP Addresses: Screenshots from each PC and Laptop showing the
DHCP-assigned IP address.
3. Ping Test for Connectivity: A screenshot of the ping command showing a successful
connection between two devices.
---
Ensure all screenshots are clear and labeled correctly to demonstrate each step's
completion.
All files should contain student roll numbers and names.
