Subject: Understanding the Self

Instructor: Mr. Voltaire T. Soriano

This activity aims to encourage self-reflection and future

planning by exploring one’s identity, aspirations, and long-term
goals. By reflecting on who I am now and envisioning who I
want to become, I can better understand my strengths, areas
for improvement, and the steps I need to take to achieve my
desired future. This process will help me align my present
actions with my future ambitions, ensuring that I am
continuously growing and moving towards my ideal self.
Through this reflection, I hope to gain clarity on my career path
and personal development.

1. Who I Am and Who I Want to Be

 As a college student currently pursuing a degree in Exercise and

Sports Science, I am passionate about fitness, health, and sports.
My goal is to build a career where I can help others improve their
physical well-being and embrace a healthier lifestyle. I am
committed to acquiring knowledge and skills that will allow me to
become an effective mentor and educator in the field. While I am
still at the early stages of my journey, I am determined to grow and
develop, both professionally and personally. I envision myself as
someone who can inspire and motivate others to lead active lives,
contributing to their overall physical and mental health. My
aspiration is to become a respected figure in the fitness and
education sectors, guiding individuals of all ages toward healthier
lifestyles.

2. Imagining Myself 15 Years from Now

a. Where Do I Want to Be?

 Fifteen years from now, I see myself living and working in Canada. I
have chosen this destination because it presents ample
opportunities for fitness professionals, offering a conducive
environment for growth and success. I aim to establish my career
there as a fitness coach and physical education (PE) teacher,
gaining recognition for my expertise and commitment. Living in
Canada will allow me to interact with diverse communities, learn
from a global network of professionals, and share my skills on a
broader platform.

b. How Do I Want to Be Living?

 I envision a lifestyle characterized by balance and fulfillment. I want
to maintain my physical health, practice the values I teach, and
have a stable, comfortable home environment. Financial
independence is essential, but more importantly, I want to lead a life
that aligns with my values—one that is healthy, active, and mentally
rewarding. I aspire to create a lifestyle where I can manage my
career, personal development, and relationships effectively.

c. What Do I Want to Be Doing?

 I see myself thriving as a fitness coach and PE teacher, engaging
with different groups to promote physical education. My role would
involve coaching athletes, developing fitness programs, and
teaching physical education in schools. I also want to participate in
community outreach programs to spread awareness about the
importance of fitness and healthy living. Ideally, I would like to run
my own fitness facility where I can train individuals, host workshops,
and provide a space for people to learn about fitness.

d. What Kind of Person Do I Want to Be and What Qualities Do I Think I

Possess?
 I aspire to be a dedicated, empathetic, and knowledgeable
professional. I want to be recognized for my integrity, patience, and
the ability to inspire and motivate others. Currently, I see myself as
resilient, enthusiastic, and committed to self-improvement. These
traits will serve as the foundation for the person I wish to become.
My goal is to continue developing these qualities, building upon my
strengths, and addressing areas that need growth.

e. How Do I Want to Be Viewed by Other People?

 I aim to be seen as a reliable, approachable, and skilled professional
who genuinely cares about the well-being of others. I want to
establish a reputation based on trust, professionalism, and a
positive attitude. I hope people will view me as a mentor they can
turn to for guidance, support, and inspiration in their fitness
journeys. My intention is to build relationships based on respect and
mutual understanding, earning recognition for my dedication and
passion.

f. Who Am I at the Moment and What Kind of Person Do I Think I Am?

 Currently, I am a motivated college student focused on gaining the
skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in my chosen field. I am
hardworking, resilient, and open to new challenges. I approach my
studies with enthusiasm, knowing that they are the stepping stones
to achieving my long-term goals. While I am still building my
confidence and expertise, I am willing to put in the effort needed to
grow and excel.

g. How Do I Currently View Myself and Compare Whether I See

Discrepancies Between My Ideal Self and My Real Self?
 Reflecting on my current self, I recognize that there are gaps
between who I am now and my ideal self. My ideal self is more
experienced, knowledgeable, and self-assured. These discrepancies
highlight the areas where I need to focus—such as gaining practical
experience, building confidence, and expanding my skills. I am
actively working to bridge these gaps through my education,
internships, and personal development. I understand that growth is
a continuous process, and I am committed to progressing toward my
ideal self step by step.
