A-3.TARGET STRENGTH FOR MIX PROPORTIONING
f'ck= fck + 1.65 s
Where
f'ck= target average compressive strength at 28 days,
fck = characteristic compressive strength at 28 days, and s = standard deviation
From (IS: 10262-2009) Table 1, standard deviation, s = 5.0 N/mm2
Therefore,target strength = 45+ 1.65 *5.0= 53.25 N/mm2
But as per MoSRT&H Table 1700-5 Target mean strength 58 N/mm2
A-4.SELECTION OF WATER-CEMENT RATIO
As per MORTH Table 1700-2 Max Water-Cement Ratio is 0.45
Based on experience,adopt water-cement ratio = 0.34
A-5.SELECTION OF WATERCONTENT
From IS:10262 Table 2, maximum water content for 20mm aggregate=186 (for 25mm to 50mm slump range),
For Every 25mm Slump add 3% Extra Water
Estimated water content for 100mm Slump =186+((186*6)/100)=197.16 liter
As Super Plasticizer is used, water content can be reduced up 20 percent and above (as per IS 10262-2009)
Based on trails with super plasticizer, water content reduction of 0.2412 has been achieved.
Hence the arrived water content = 197.16*0.7588= 149.600lts.
A-6.CEMENT CONTENT
Water cement ratio : 0.34
Cement Content = 149.60 / 0.34 = 440.000 kgs.
as per MORTH Table 1700-2 minimum cement content for RCC = 340 kg/m3
Based on experience,adopt cement content = 440.0 kg/m3
Hence Cement content O.K
A-7.PROPORTION OF VOLUME OF COARSE AGGREGATE AND FINE AGGREGATE
From table 3, IS 10262:2009 Table No.3,Volume of Coarse Aggregate Corresponding to 20mm Size aggregate and fine aggregate
Zone III for water-cement ratio of 0.50=0.64
In the present case water -cement ratio is 0.34
therefore Volume of Coarse aggregate is required tobe incresed to decrese the fine aggregate content. As the water-cement ratio
is lower by 0.16 the proportion of volume of coarse aggregate is incresed by (at the rate of +/-0.01 for every +/-0.05 change in
water-cement ratio)
therefore, corrected proportion of volume of coarse aggregate for the water-cement ratio of 0.36=0.67
Therefore volume of coarse aggregate = 0.67*100 = 67%
Volume fine aggregate = 1-67 = 33%
A-8.MIX CALCULATION
The mix calculations per unit volume of concrete shall be as follows:
a) Volume of concrete = 1 m3
b) Volume of cement = (Mass of cement / Specific gravity of cement)*(1 / 1000)
= (440/ 3.15)*(1/1000)
= 0.1397 m3
c) Volume of water = (Mass of water /Specific gravity of water)*(1 / 1000)
= (149.60/1)*(1/1000)
= 0.1496m3
d) Volume of chemical admixture
(superplastiscizer, PC Based)@ 0.70 %
by mass of cementitious material) = (Mass of chemical admixture / Sp. gr.of admixture)*(1 / 1000)
= ( 3.08/1.09)*(1 / 1000)
= 0.0028m3
e) Volume of all in aggregate = [ a - ( b + c + d )]
= 1 - ( 0.1397 + 0.1496+0.0028 )
= 0.7079 m3
