Topic: One to One & Inverse function Class Activity#7 (Tutorial Session) (Student-centered learning)

Name: ______________________________ ID# ___________Sec: ( ) Date: 29-02/04/2020

Objective: After this lesson the students should be able to understand the basic concepts of one-to-one
functions & analyze problems of inverse of function and finding a way to solve it.
One – to – One function (1-1):
A function with domain A is called a one – to – one function if no two elements of A
have the same image, that is
f ( x 1 ) ≠ f ( x 2 ) whenever x1 ≠ x2
One – to – One function testing by Horizontal line Test.
A function is one-to-one if and only if no horizontal line intersects its graph more than
once.

Inverse Function:
An inverse function f −1 ( x ) is a function that "reverses" another function f (x). That is, if
f (x) is a function mapping x to y , then the inverse function f −1 ( x ) maps y back to x .
Inverse function f −1 ( x ) is the opposite of function f (x).
