The weeknd

Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, who the world knows as The Weeknd, was born on
February 16, 1990, in Toronto, Canada. Today, he is 34 years old and is one
of the most famous artists in pop and R&B music. His parents, Samrawit
Hailu and Makkonen Tesfaye, are originally from Ethiopia and moved to
Canada, where Abel was born and raised. Growing up, he was influenced
by different cultures, which later shaped his unique style in music.

In his personal life, The Weeknd is currently single. His last known
relationship was with model Bella Hadid, whom he dated on and off until
2019. Since then, there hasn’t been any news of him being in a new
relationship. At the moment, he doesn’t have any children and seems to
be focused on his music and career.

The Weeknd has come a long way since his early days, and his life story
reflects a mix of challenges, talent, and ambition. He has become an icon
in the music industry, but he keeps much of his private life out of the
spotlight.

Career

The Weeknd’s journey in the music industry has been shaped by several
major milestones. He founded XO Records, his own record label, which
allowed him to maintain creative control and establish partnerships with
other artists and producers. Many artists signed to XO Records have
gained significant attention, contributing to the label’s unique sound and
influence in the industry.

The Weeknd’s big breakthrough came in 2012 when he went on his first
tour and released Trilogy, a compilation of his early mixtapes that gained
him a huge fan base. His debut album, Kiss Land, was released in 2013,
which he followed with another tour in 2014. Around this time, he gained
more mainstream attention with the release of Earned It, featured on the
Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.
In 2020, Blinding Lights became a massive hit worldwide, breaking records
on streaming platforms like Spotify. However, The Weeknd’s music has
also sparked controversies, such as when he was snubbed by the
Grammys despite the success of Blinding Lights. Despite this, he
performed at the Super Bowl LV halftime show in 2021, which brought his
music to an even wider audience.

In 2022, he released Dawn FM, another successful album, and kicked off
his After Hours til Dawn Tour, showing that his influence continues to grow.
With record-breaking streams and a strong fanbase, The Weeknd has
solidified his place in modern music history.

Why i like him

Songs

Here are a few songs from him

Starboy

Starboy by The Weeknd is a song that explores the complex relationship

between fame and personal conflict. In this song, "Starboy" represents The
Weeknd's persona as a symbol of fame and success, highlighting the
glamorous lifestyle he leads.

The lyrics focus on themes of luxury, fame, and materialism, while also
revealing the darker side of these things. The Weeknd uses the song to
criticize the superficiality and pressures of the celebrity world, showing
how success often comes with challenges and sacrifices.

Starboy balances self-dramatization with inner reflection, as The Weeknd

shows both pride in his achievements and awareness of the costs. Through
this song, he illustrates the tension between embracing his superstar
status and dealing with its emotional toll
