secundaria, y comenzó a usar MDMA, Xanax, cocaína, psilocibina y ketamina.9 Asistió

proyecto musical de R & B llamado "The Weeknd".
Produjo tres canciones «What You Need», «Loft Music», y «The Morning», y otros por
de 2010, Tesfaye subió «What You Need», «Loft Music», y «The Morning» a YouTube
unknown.1819 The songs caught online attention by word of mouth, given
that were included in a blog with the songs of the Canadian rapper Drake,16
who also helped generate interest in The Weeknd.20 Subsequently received
coverage in points of sale such as Pitchfork Media and The New York Times.

On March 21, 2011, Tesfaye released for free through his website,
a mixtape of nine tracks titled "House of Balloons". With the production of
Illangelo and Doc McKinney, although he did not credit Rose for his cues.16 'House
of Balloons» was critically acclaimed for its sample of Happy House by Siouxsie
and the Banshees, and was named as one of the ten pre-candidates-
selected for the Polaris Music Prize 2011.23

In July, Tesfaye embarked on a tour and performed his first performance at the Mod Club
from Toronto. The hour and a half performance generated expectations about him. 24 His
the next performance took place at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto.
He collaborated extensively with the rapper Drake, lending his voice to several tracks.
outstanding in the multi-platinum album "Take Care" and appeared as one of the
special guests at Drake's second Annual OVO Fest on July 31
2011.25 During the summer, the press noted that The Weeknd refused to participate in
interviews and decided to communicate only through Twitter.26 His second mixtape
"Thursday" was released on August 18, 2011, as a free digital download
from The Weeknd's website, and it was well received by critics.27On the 2nd of
November 2011, The Weeknd releases a remix with DJ Illangelo Remix of the
song Marry the Night by Lady Gaga. In that same month, the third mixtape of The
Weeknd, titled 'Echoes of Silence', was released on December 21, 2011.
Since this release, the three mixtapes were collectively known as
"Balloons Trilogy", each received critical acclaim and growing support
of the fans of Tesfaye.
