Introduction Lesson
Time Activity Description
20 min Expectations Discuss what the outcome of the classes should be and give a brief
introduction to the work of CSDS (If they have enough knowledge of
CSDS)
10 min Introductions Get students to work in pairs and get them to ask and answer
Worksheet questions within their pairs using the questions on the worksheet.
20 min Icebreaker game Teachers and students should sit in a circle and everyone given a
– 4 statements, 1 piece of paper and a pen. Students will be asked to write down 4
lie things about them of which 1 must be a lie. Once this is completed,
everyone should walk around and talk to different people, reading out
their 4 statements and then guessing which one is a lie. This should be
done for around 15 minutes to give students a chance to talk to as
many people as possible. If teacher sees Students staying together
they should encourage them to move on to someone else.
20 min Warm-up game – Teacher should create a fun quiz on any topic of their choice and split
Quiz the students into teams. Ask them to create a team name and make it
more fun for the students. Please ensure there are questions that a
variety of ages will know the answer to.
20 min Presentation Teachers should prepare a short presentation Introduce countries of
origin
30 min Discussion Teacher should split the class into groups of even numbers and a
different teacher should sit with each group and talk to them about
any questions they have or any questions they would like answered.
This gets the students to know the teachers better and vice versa.
If there is additional time then please use the pronunciation exercise document in the Introduction
folder. If you do not want to focus on pronunciation for this lesson then play another team building
or increase the time of discussion by changing teachers half way through the discussion time to allow
students to get to know their teachers.
