taking treatment from the age 10 and the parents and teachers were started to observe the

some mental issues. He has a brother but the relationship between them is not healthy. Now he is
living with his mother’s sister and this is a medico legal case. Now, they need the intellectual
disability certificate for to applying pension. This was the reason the client was brought to
hospital and based on presenting Complaints IQ test named Bhatia’s battery short form was
administered to the client.
RATIONALE OF THE ASSEMENT

The rationale of the assessment was to assess the IQ using Bhatia’s battery short form.

DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSESSMENT TOOL

The administration of Bhatia’s full battery takes about 45 minutes. Given the significant
disparity in psychologists-to-patients’ ratio, and especially where time is a limiting factor, test
developers usually come up with short version of the full assessment versions. Similarly,
psychologists have proposed a shorter version that includes Block Design and Pass Along
subtests from Bhatia’s battery. Even though many use these two subtests as the short battery,
there are two versions to arrive at full IQ. One, to sum up raw scores of Block Design and Pass
Along subtests and multiply it with 2.5, and to compare with the overall-full norms. Second,
scores were allotted for each block of 30 seconds instead of 60 seconds as in Bhatia original
method

BEHAVIORAL ASSESMENT OBSERVATION

During the time of the test conduction on the subject was co-operative and very active. The
subject was able to understand and follow the instructions correctly. The subject was doing the
task slowly even though he is able to perform. The subject was interested to do the task and very
much motivated to complete the test.
