❏ Document Sample: : A PDF or editable Word version
of the sample document.
❏ JSON File: An encoded Docusign eSignature
template containing a tagged document to upload
directly into your Docusign account.
Please note: These templates are provided for informational purposes
only and should not be construed as regulatory, legal, or privacy law
compliant and should not be taken as advice on any of the specific subjects.
It is understood that they are provided “as is,” “with all faults,” and “as
available” biases without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied,
statutory, or otherwise.
Using the JSON File Template*
1. Upload the JSON template file to your Docusign eSignature
Account.
2. Click to Edit the uploaded template.
3. Explore how the template is set up:
a. Review the recipient routing.
b. Click through the field set-up on the document:
Review how formula fields, conditional formatting,
drop-downs, and radio buttons function on the
document.
4. Test the template by Sending an envelope to yourself in
each recipient role to see how the template will work for
your signers.
5. Make the necessary changes for branding, field names, etc.,
before sending the live document.
Edit the document in your new template
For editable documents, use the provided Word doc to edit the
document to meet your business requirements and company
branding needs.
Once your updated copy is complete, edit your uploaded
template and replace the document. This process allows you to
keep all the fields on the template while simply replacing your
edited document.
Edit the Word Document (When Applicable)
If you want to customize and brand your document before uploading
it, we recommend using the Word doc instead of the JSON file. While
the JSON file is tagged and ready to go, once it is uploaded, you
cannot edit the underlying document in the Docusign Web
Application.
*Note: Some accounts do not support the ability to upload templates.
If your account supports template upload, you must have the appropriate
template permission setting (create and share) to download or upload
templates. This setting is controlled by your account administrator, as
described in the Permission Sets guide.
