On November 11, 2024, module 9, titled "Utilitarianism," was reported.

This paper will

evaluate and analyze the overall presentation of the reporters. First and foremost, I would like to
share my insights and what I have learned from module 9, "Utilitarianism." Utilitarianism is a
moral theory that advocates for actions that promote happiness or pleasure while opposing
actions that lead to unhappiness or harm. According to this theory, an action is considered right
if it results in the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people in a society or group.
There are two main types of utilitarianism. The first is act utilitarianism, which examines
the consequences of each act and calculates its utility each time the act is performed. The
second is rule utilitarianism, which assesses the consequences of everyone following a specific
rule and evaluates the overall utility of accepting or rejecting that rule.
Understanding these ethical concepts has deepened my appreciation in furthering how
to build a better society. The principle of the *Common Good* indicates that what we do and
the use of all resources and political decisions shall serve everyone, not just the privileged few.
This often makes me remember that I need to take into consideration how my actions affect
others, aiming for an excellent impact for the whole community. Similarly, Jeremy Bentham-like
thinkers introduced the principle of utility whereby the value an action happens to have morally
can be calculated by simply ascertaining how much it may create either happiness or pleasure,
or how much evil or pain in a man's existence is prevented. The principle of utility leads us to
consequentialism, choosing, in all our decisions, what will bring the greatest good to the
greatest number, a thorough guide for ethical decisions in everyday matters.
Learning about *Justice* and *Fairness* has given me the knowledge that it is essential to
give each other equal respect. Justice explains that everybody should be treated equally, free of
bias, while fairness develops decisions which are regarded just and reasonable to everyone for
everyone. These values complement each other with the concept of *Rights*, which is the
cornerstone in ethical theories, protecting individual liberties. Ideas such as those from John
Stuart Mill would propel me towards the importance of voice-giving power through restriction
of governmental power. Taking all ideas into consideration, I do believe that creating a fair and
just society must bring together elements of care and justice with proper distribution towards
everyone's fair chance and their good.
The PowerPoint presentation was outstanding and interactive, designed from a considered
variety of colors to bring about a peaceful feel for the audience. The background colors were
pleasing on the eyes and made the whole slide highly readable and appealing. The use of two
different styles of fonts added a twist without overwhelming the viewers, as it is a very well-
balanced and aesthetically pleasing combination. The key points are well highlighted so that the
audience is in a position to track what were the main information to focus on. Overall, visual
design of the presentation added a plus to the experience of the content amongst the audience.
Now let's criticize each reporter's performance in detail. First on the list, Stephanie Taub- she
does a great job of preparation and shows an attitude of confidence in the presentation. There
was a good sign that she understood her topic inside out, and she reported smoothly without
any nervous tension, so her delivery was clear and compelling. She was distinguished by her
eloquence and clarity in expressing her ideas. She communicated her perspectives effectively
and showed good speaking skill. Her articulate thoughts made her portion very engaging. Third,
Rainalenn Sona-good diction and effective use of gestures. The use of body language
underpinned her utterances so that what she had to say and by adding the use of gestures
actually caught the audience's attention. Clear speech plus effective use of body and facial
expression points underpin a good delivery. Fourth, Zander Cuaderno, he was very fluent in his
use of the English language in eliciting his ideas. His fluency and deepening of the discussion
were impressive, showing then a critical quality for effective reporting. He said what he thinks
with confidence and command of the language. And finally, Jillian Feliz, she was a strong
reporter with a clear, resonant voice. Her voice projection ensured that whoever was in the room
heard her message clearly. What is more, she clarified most of the things she was saying, thus
making her section of the report informative and easy to follow.

While the presentation was definitely interesting and filled with graphics, there are definitely
areas for improvement. One is on the PowerPoint. The group could use a similar font type on
the different slides so that, overall, it would give off a more cohesive look. The addition of charts
or images will grab the attention of the audience better as it can, through them, support the
discussion's main points. For the presenters, it would be great if there were more interactive
features wherein there was a solicitation of questions or short activities that would be included
for heightened audience participation. Lastly, each reporter maintaining his stare to the
participants could improve his connection with them better. In a nutshell, the group did great in
terms of the design and delivery of the presentation. Generally, the group should score me 10
out of 10 based on their performance.
