TD 02

The document outlines a series of exercises related to petrophysics, focusing on the calculation of permeability, flow rates, and pressure variations in cylindrical core samples and porous media. It includes practical applications of Darcy's law, the measurement of absolute permeability, and the analysis of layered systems. Additionally, it discusses the relationship between porosity and permeability in a cubic porous medium with cylindrical tubes.

Ex 1.
A 10 cm long cylindrical core sample was subjected to a laboratory linear flow test under a pressure differential of 3.4 atm
using a fluid of viscosity of 2.5 cP. The diameter of the core is 4 cm. A flow rate of 0.35 cc/s was obtained.
1- Calculate the permeability of this core sample.
2- Plot the variation of pressure as function of position (x).
Ex 2.
In order to measure the absolute permeability of a core of dimensions L

different flow rates (Q) and the corresponding head losses (Δp) are
recorded. Three scenarios are carried out as shown in the Table.
