Task 1:- familizarize the computer system and its functions.
COMPUTER SYSTEM
Definition: Is a collection of entities(hardware, software and liveware) that are
designed to receive, process, manage and present information in a meaningful
format.
COMPONENTS OF COMPUTER SYSTEM
•Computer hardware - Are physical parts/ intangible parts of a computer. eg
Input devices, output devices, central processing unit and storage devices
•Computer software - also known as programs or applications. They are classified
into two classes namely - sytem software and application software
•Liveware - is the computer user. Also kwon as orgwareor the humanware. The
user commands the computer system to execute on instructions
Input Devices of Computer
Hardware devices are used to provide instructions or feed data to computer
systems. The instruction or data inserted during this process is called “Input”
while the device used to input the data is known as an input device of a
computer. These input devices of a computer can be further divided into
different categories such as pointing devices, keyboard devices, drawing devices,
recognition devices, etc. Some of the commonly used Input devices are-
Keyboard
Mouse
Joystick
Scanner
Light Pen
Microphone
Digital Camera
Track Ball
Bar Code Reader
Optical Character Reader.
Keyboard
Keyboards are one of the primary input devices which helps in entering data and
commands in a computer or any electronic device by pressing keys. A keyboard
has a different set of keys for letters, numbers, functions, and characters.
Mouse
The mouse is a commonly used input device that helps the user to interact with
the computer system through a process called “point and click”. This hand-held
input device is used to move the cursor or pointer across the screen
Joystick
A Joystick is also a pointing device like a mouse which is widely used to play
games on a computer
Light Pen
A light pen is a computer input device that looks like a pen. It is very sensitive and
has a small tube containing a photocell and an optical system
Digital Camera
Digital cameras are input devices that record images (and sometimes videos)
digitally. Instead of using film, digital cameras use an image sensor chip to capture
images.... Read more at:
Processing Devices of the Computer?
Any internal component of a computer that enables the interpretation and
manipulation of incoming data is referred to as a processing device when this
phase is being carried out. In this article, we'll walk you through the definition of
processing devices for computers as well as their types, purposes, and other
applications. The processing device is a physical element of the computer that
assists in managing information storage and retrieval. Processing equipment is
crucial to the processing processes of a computer.
Output device
Monitor
The most general example of an output device is a monitor. It is also known as a
Visual Display Unit (VDU) and the major function of a monitor is to display the
processed data like images, videos, text, audio, etc.... Read more at:
Printer
Printers are another common example of Output devices. Printers primarily
operate by producing a copy, typically a hard copy or Xerox copy, of the
information transmitted by the computer
Projector
The projector is an output device that receives images from a computer and
allows users to project their output onto a large area, such as a screen or a
wall. ... Read more at: https://www.careerpower.in/school/computer/output-

Storage device
he storage unit is a part of the computer system which is employed to store the
information and instructions to be processed. A storage device is an integral part
of the computer hardware which stores information/data to process the result of
any computational work. Without a storage device, a computer would not be able
to run or even boot up.
A hard disk drive (HDD),
hard disk, hard drive, or fixed disk[a] is an electro-mechanical data storage device
that stores and retrieves digital data using magnetic storage with one or more
rigid rapidly rotating platters coated with magnetic material.
A floppy disk or floppy diskette
(casually referred to as a floppy, a diskette, or a disk) is a type of disk storage
composed of a thin and flexible disk of a magnetic storage medium in a square or
nearly square plastic enclosure lined with a fabric that removes dust particles
from the spinning disk.
ROM
(Read-Only Memory) is a type of computer memory that stores permanent data
and instructions for the device to start up. Learn about the different types of ROM
and their use in computer systems. Get a complete understanding of ROM
memory.
