INTRODUCTION
Work immersion is one of the requirements for graduation. A senior high school
student has to undergo a work immersion. Though work immersion, the student are
exposed to and become familiar with work related to their specialization to enhance their
competence.
In line with that, as one of the grade 12 students who are on General Academic
Strand in Bilad High School. We are responsible to attend the work immersion as part of
the memorandum of the Department of Education (DepEd) for the implementation of
Senior High School curriculum in the Philippines.
The school administrators, Senior High School Focal Person, teachers and
advisers have their memorandum of agreement which is a part of curriculum that students
allow to spend their work immersion on their chosen establishments’ base on their track
or specialization.
Fortunately, I as well as my groupmates from GAS 12 PRUDENCE was
assigned as the second batch to immerse at HOT GRILL, Camiling, Tarlac. I am about to
spend my work immersion period with the total of 80 hours.
Objectives of the Work Immersion
The primary objective of work immersion is to provide Grade 12 students with
practical experience in a professional setting. This will help them understand the practical
applications of the theories and concepts they learned in their academic studies.
Work immersion program aim to help student develop employability skills
such as communication. Teamwork, time management and problem-solving. These skills
are essential for success in any career paths.
It allows students to explore different career options and gain insight into
various industries. This will help them make informed decisions about their future career
paths.
Provides opportunity for students to apply their academic learning in real-
world settings. This will help them understand the relevance of their academic studies in
the work place.
This also aims to help students develop a strong work ethic and
professionalism.
Values and Attributes of a Student in a Work Immersion
During a work immersion program, students are expected to exhibit certain
values and attributes that are important for success in the work place. Here are some of
the values and attributes of a student in a work immersion:
Professionalism displays professionalism in their behavior, demeanor, and
work ethics. They should be punctual, respectful, and responsible in their interaction with
colleagues, superiors and customer.
Adaptability can involve working in new and unfamiliar environments, and
students should be able to adopt to changes and work effectively in different situations.
Communication skills including verbal and written communication, active
listening and the ability to express their thoughts and ideas clearly.
Teamwork involve working in terms, and students should be able to
collaborate effectively with others, share ideas, and work towards common goals.

maintain a productive and constructive mindset in the work place.
Respective for diversity, working with people from different culture and
backgrounds, and students should be respectful of diversity and appreciate different
perspective.
Responsibility, students should take ownership of their work and accountable for
their actions and decisions. They should also follow workplace policies and regulations
and take responsibility for their personal and professional development.
CAREER GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING
IMMERSIONS can be used as facilitative tool for career counseling for
students especially those in professional courses. By placing them in a real world work
scenario, it gives them an opportunity to explore the kind of tasks and activities they
would like to do.
IMMERSION also matches the candidate’s profile with a list of occupations,
which can be used as reference point for exploring opportunities.
CAREER AND INTERNAL MOBILITY
IMMERSION highlights individuals’ self-awareness and provides a deeper
understanding of ear interest and strength in a work environment. It guides individual
career choices by matching their interest and personality with various job profiles. From
an internal mobility perspective, IMMERSION can facilitate people’s development
within a company and encourage those who are looking for growth and chance.

The hot grill was erected because the owner of Save Wise was thinking about what
kind of business to build. What he thought of when he first set up the business was that
there would be a lot of expenses and materials, but they said that it would be expensive,
so they thought of something else. The owner said that he had it in mind, but he didn’t
make his own recipe, so that’s why they came up with the hot grill.

Why Immersion is necessary?
Work immersion is one of the course requirements for graduation. A Senior High
School student has to undergo work immersion in a business organization/establishment
whose work requirements are related to specialization. “Work Immersion is a key feature
in the Senior High School curriculum. It can be conducted in different ways depending in
the purposes and needs of the learners,’ Education Secretary Leonor Briones said. The
guidelines said work immersion which can range 80 to 320 hours- will enable to student
to become familiar with the workplace, experience, workplace simulation and apply their
competencies in areas of specialization.
What specific skills and knowledge the trainee will acquire during the work
immersion and how will they be taught?
The specific skills and knowledge the trainee will acquire during the work
immersion is one of the goals of K to 12 Basic Education Program which is to develop in
learners the competencies, work ethic and values relevant to pursuing further
education/or joining the world of work. To achieve greater congruence between basic
education and the nation’s development targets, Work Immersion, a required subject, has
been incorporated into the curriculum. This subject will provide learners with
opportunities:
1. To become familiar with the workplace;
2. For employment simulation; and
3. To apply their competencies in areas of specialization/applied subjects in an
authentic work environment.
To achieve the above objectives, Work Immersion is thus a requirement for
graduation from secondary education. Learners are immersed in an actual work
environment such as workshop offices and laboratories in which their prior training is
relevant.
Work Immersion will helps develop among the learner’s life and career skills, and
will prepare them to make decisions on postsecondary education or employment.
Through partnership building, DepEd hopes that the Partner Institutions will provide
learners with work immersion opportunities, workplace and hands on experience and
additional learning resources and how will they be taught.
The areas in which the trainee will receive instruction in conjunction with the
specific task and responsibility to be assigned to the trainees in each department.
The areas in which the trainee will receive instruction in
conjunction with the specific task and responsibility to be assigned to the trainee, comes
from the onsite Manager namely Gloria Dela Cruz. I was assigned to kitchen area.

Daily Accomplishment Report
Day 1 (March 11, 2024)
First day of my work immersion at hot grill. I woke up in the morning at 4: 30, I
cook rice for my lunch and to my breakfast. I went in at 8:00 and I waited for it open, and
the hot grill opened at right 8:39. That I was placed in the kitchen and everything they
were doing there was shown to me and taught, the first thing I learned was how to skewer
wings, half cut, and legs. Next is to cook the sauce for the palabok, third is to say how
many to cook for the rice, fourth is to serve and how to properly put the toppings in the
orders. I learned all that right away and they also told me that I can learn a task quickly
because when they show me what I have to do and I tell them that it’s my turn or give it a
try, they give it to me and I can do it correctly and properly and they told me that I can
learn quickly even though I saw how to do it once, I did that in the morning and
afternoon when the afternoon came I was very tired because you can’t sit down and we
just got on and we had lunch at 12 :15 we did overtime even though it was our first day
and we had a breaktime at 3:00-3:15 and we went home at 5:00.
Day 2 (March 12, 2024)
I woke up in the morning at 5:00 and he was preparing all my things to use for my
work immersion. I came in at 7:57 and my partner and I met at the hot grill at 8:10, the
hot grill opened at 8:30 and we started working. Skewered and drilled the legs, wings,
and half cut, cooked the sauce for the meatloaf, made a map when we finished doing that,
we were waiting for a customer, there were a lot of customers, but there were more
yesterday, but even so, we were still tired because we did a lot and we didn’t sit while
working or waiting for customers and we went out at 5:00.
Day 3 ( March 13, 2024)
Third day of our work immersion at the hot grill. We are doing the same thing,
this morning the sales were slow or the customers coming, but in the afternoon the
customers came one by one, that’s why even the food we made was used up and there
were things to wash that I made. When there were no customers, we cleaned the kitchen
to make it neat and clean.
Day 4 (March 14, 2024)
Day 4 of my work immersion, this is Thursday, a lot of customers and almost all
customers buy a halo halo of things because it’s right in time because it’s hot. One of our
customers complained because the cold palabok that is served to the customer and she
said that his palabok can be warmed so he can eat it but she was not angry.
Day 5 ( March 20, 2024)
When I go to work, I feel light, as if I’m going through the tasks there and we
always laugh because of the people we work with and they are all fun to be with, you
never get bored of being with them they are at work, they are all friendly and they are not
rude. It’s also my first time that I didn’t get tired at work because maybe I got used to
their work and I almost slipped in the kitchen earlier because the floor was slippery
because I had just finished cooking, it’s good I just balanced my body.
Day 6 ( March 21, 2024)
Day 6 of my work immersion Every day at the store was exhausting but then
also amazing because of the things I learned and new people I met. I also did the same
thing that I did on my past days in the hot grill except on assigning me at the cashier area.
Day 7 ( March 22, 2024)
Another normal day for everyone, with the same routine, same work and same
faces except to the new costumers that entering the shop. I am still at the kitchen area this
day doing the usual things and taught and instruct me to do. Still tiring yet fulfilling (by
the taught that I am doing my duties exactly on how they taught me to do on my first
day). I made a little mistake in my OJT on this day because I forget to put the other part
of rice cooker, when I put the rice I’m shocked because the water inside the rice cooker
was dripping I thought the rice cooker is broke then and I told to my co-workers and day
laugh of me because they said that I didn’t broke the rice cooker and they said that the
other parts of rice cooker I didn’t put.
Day 8 ( April 1, 2024)
Day 8 Same things I did on this day. Still at the kitchen area doing the same
routine I did the last few days. What I did is washing it thoroughly and immediately as
what employees told me to do. But this day, it’s kind of sad because of the thought that
we are about to end our immersion days in this very beautiful and friendly place.
Day 9 ( April 2, 2024)
Ninth day of my work immersion and nothing has changed in my daily routine; I
am still at the kitchen area, preparing foods for the valued customers. And something
happened outside the hot grill and that was an accident outside a car and motorcycle and I
saw everything that happened because I was in the dinning area at that time and I was
also looking outside so I knew what happened.
Day 10 ( April 4, 2024)
Same things I did on this day. This is my last and final day on this wonderful
place. A lot of things will come into their end if it’s already the time for that. But still, it is
a privilege and honor for me to be in this industry especially to this store. I have learned a
lot of things and meet new people, I am very thankful to have them as my superior and
advisers while I am in HOT GRILL Camiling. The experienced can’t be bought by any
amount, it is priceless.

REFLECTION
Work Immersion is a specialized subject in Senior High School. It is a must for a
Senior High School student to experience it. I’m writing this as one of those Senior High
School student. At first, I have doubt at my self thinking that I will experience working in
real life because I don’t think I’m capable enough in working right now because I’m still
young. I am quite nervous if I can conquer it and do my job adequately. Fortunately, I
overcome it. Experiencing work immersion may be tiring because I need to experience
how to work in real life and that means that I should do whatever the workers are doing.
On our first day, it was really tough because I am not familiar with their work in Hot Grill
because obviously, it was my first time working in a restaurant. Thankfully, the staffs and
crews were there to help us to learn on what they are doing. I eventually learned their job
and I am happy with it. When I experienced being a worker in a restaurant, I learned to
appreciate even the smallest kind of work that I can see. There’s no regret that I let my
self experienced it because it my open my eyes of understanding in everything about
restaurant or in food service. It’s not just about the lessons that taught to us but also those
mistakes that become a lesson learned. It gives me also the memories that I will look
back when I am grown up. Work immersion may be tiring and exhausting but it surely
gives a lesson on me that I will forever cherish and remember. For me, it’s not a lost
being immersed in real world of work.
Problems Encountered
The problem I encountered during my immersion When I was making a halo halo,
when he put the ingredients, the jelly ingredients fell, and then I put too much ice in the
glass. That's why when I served it, the ice melted and then it dripped because of the
amount of ice I put.
Suggestion and Recommendation
No words can say how HOT GRILL is very kind. My only suggestion about them
is always stay in that attitude and treat all the people who enter HOT GRILL and also the
work immersionist. Continue making the sense of leadership in order for the next work
immersion students that will immerse in their establishment will learn more as what I
have acquired in this kind of training.
SUMMARY OF WORK IMMERSION
On the first day of work immersion duty we met the Supervisor and assistant
Supervisor of HOT GRILL, CAMILING and they discussed to us the do and don’ts
inside the workplace, then, after that they taught us the basic works in the restaurant,
they’ve also allowed us to observed their work and familiarize with the workplace before
we get started. Before entering the store in the early morning, we should go directly to the
lady guard to get our Daily Time Record signed and the proceed on the Kitchen Area
where I assigned and start to work,
As days passed by, same work and same routine is what I am doing. It is truly kind
of tiring yet worth it due to the new learning that we’ve obtained while working in this
wonderful place.
