www.logiqids.com

Solution (D)
Following things are happening here:
1. There are 2 columns on the left side in which some red and blue diamond-shaped dots are kept
while on the right side some numbers are written in words in blue and red coloured font.
The order of the colours on the right side is same as the 2nd column on the left side.
For example in the 1st pair, the 2nd column on the left side has blue at the top and red at the bottom
and same is followed on the right side boxes.
2. Numbers of red diamonds are multiplied and their product is written on the right side in words in
the same coloured font.
For example, on the left side, the 1st column has 8 red dots and the 2nd column has 1 red dot. So
their product which is 8 is written in words and in the same coloured font on the right side.
3. Difference of blue dots is written on the right side in the same coloured font.
for example, on the left side, the 1st column has 4 blue dots and 2nd column has 2 blue dots. So their
difference which is 2 is written on the right side in words and in the same coloured font.
If we follow the similar logic in the last pair, then the boxes on the right should have Fourteen
(7x2=14) written in red coloured font at the top and 6 (8-2=6) written in blue coloured font at the
bottom.

2 The sentence given below has an idiom in it which is also underlined. Find the option closest in
meaning to the given idiom:
She still seems to have a chip on her shoulder about the argument she had with her brother last
week.

Options (A) be angry

(B) be sad

(C) be guilty

(D) be gloomy

Solution (A)
"to have a chip on her shoulder" means that she is angry about the argument.
Therefore option A is the correct answer.

3 If in a certain language, HUMANE is coded as HtvMzbNdf, KINDLY is coded as KhjNceLxz, then

what would be the code for OBJECT?

Options (A) npBikEbdT

(B) OacJdfCst

(C) OacJdfdeT

(D) OacJdfCsu

For any queries, email us at - [email protected]

www.logiqids.com

Solution (D)
To obtain the code every alternate letter starting from the 2nd letter in the word is replaced by the
letter that comes before and after that letter in the alphabetical order and these replaced letters are
written in lower case.
For example, in the word HUMANE 'U' is replaced by the letters t and u which appear before and
after the letter U in the English alphabet. Similarly, A is replaced by z and b. E is replaced by d and
f.
Following the same logic, the code for the word OBJECT will be OacJdfCsu.

4 A transparent sheet of paper is folded along the dotted line. Which of the following options represent
how the sheet will look like after folding?

Options (A)

(B)

(C)

(D)

For any queries, email us at - [email protected]

www.logiqids.com

Solution (D)

If we fold the sheet along the dotted line, then A will coincide with J, B will coincide with K, C will
coincide with L, D will coincide with I, F will coincide with H, and the resultant image will look like
in option D.

5 Find the words which will come in the blanks given below.
1 raining heavily since yesterday in Mumbai. I love Mumbai 2 of 3 rain.

Options (A) 1. Its, 2. because, 3. its

(B) 1. Its, 2. because, 3. It's

(C) 1. It's, 2. because, 3. its

(D) 1. Its, 2. as, 3. It's

Solution (C)
It's is the abbreviated (contracted) form of It is while Its without the apostrophe means to belong to
something or someone.
In the above case, the first blank refers to It is and the third blank refers to the rain belonging to
Mumbai. Therefore Option C is the correct answer.

6 Nile ranks fifth in the class. Susan ranks eighth from the last. If Tom is at the sixth place from Nile
and exactly between Nile and Susan and no two students are holding the same rank, then how many
students are there in total?

Options (A) 24

(B) 25

(C) 26

(D) 27

For any queries, email us at - [email protected]

www.logiqids.com

Solution (A)
1. Nile ranks fifth in a class. Susan ranks eighth from the last. Therefore the standing order is as
below
4 + Nile + ... + Susan + 7
2. Tom is at the sixth place from Nile and exactly between Nile and Susan.
4 + Nile + 5 + Tom + 5 + Susan + 7
Therefore there are 24 students (4 + 5 + 5 + 7 + Nile, Tom and Susan) in the class.

8 Find the next term.

Options (A)

(B)

(C)

(D)

Solution (D)
Following changes are happening here:
1. The image is taking one right turn in each term.
2. The yellow arrow is above the green arrow
3. The addition of the numbers in the previous term is kept at the tail of green arrow and their
difference is kept at the tail of yellow arrow.
Thus the next term should have yellow arrow facing down and green arrow facing towards right with
numbers 20 and 8.

9 Which of the following statements is/ are required at a minimum to answer the following question?
QUESTION: What will be the total weight of 10 tiles, if each of them weighs the same?
STATEMENT 1: One fifth of the weight of all the tiles together is at least 10 kgs more than the
weight of each tile.
STATEMENT 2: The total weight of three tiles is 10 kg more than the total weight of two tiles.

For any queries, email us at - [email protected]

www.logiqids.com

Options (A) Both statements 1 and 2 can be independently used to answer the question

(B) Statement 1 alone.

(C) Statement 2 alone.

(D) Statements 1 and 2 both.

Solution (C)
From statement 1, we get the equation
0.2 (Ten tiles) - 1 tile > 10 kgs
or 5 tiles - 1 tile > 10 kgs
or 4 tiles > 10 kgs
or 1 tile > 2.5 kgs
But the weight can be anything above 2.5 kgs. We do not know the exact weight.
From statement 2, we get the equation that
3 tiles - 2 tiles = 10 kgs
or 1 tile =1 0 kgs
Therefore we can answer the question using statement 2 alone. Therefore Option C is the correct
answer.

10 Which two mathematical operators can be interchanged such that the given equation becomes true?
5 + 3 x 8 - 12 ÷ 4 = 3

Options (A) x and +

(B) - and ÷

(C) + and ÷

(D) None of these

Solution (B)
Given equation: 5 + 3 x 8 - 12 ÷ 4 = 3
After interchanging the position of ÷ and -, 5 + 3 x 8 ÷ 12 - 4 = 3
Using BODMAS,
5 + (3 x 8 ÷ 12) - 4 = 3,
5 + (24 ÷ 12) - 4 = 3
5+2-4=3
7-4=3

12 How many pairs of numbers should be swapped at a minimum so that the sum of any three numbers
- vertically, horizontally and diagonally becomes equal to 15?
Note: If for example, we swap the numbers 5 and 4, it will be counted as 1 pair of numbers being
swapped

Options (A) 1

(B) 2

(C) 3

(D) It is not possible

For any queries, email us at - [email protected]

www.logiqids.com

Solution (A)

We only need to swap 8 and 7 as shown below and, the sum of any three numbers - vertically,
horizontally and diagonally will become equal to 15.
4+9+2 = 15
3+5+7 = 15
8+1+6 = 15
4+3+8 = 15
9+5+1 = 15
2+7+6 = 15
4+5+6 = 15
2+5+8 = 15.
Therefore option A is the correct answer.

13 Two friends have certain characteristics.

- Friend A always lies on Sunday, Monday and Thursday.
- Friend B always lies on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- On the other days they tell the truth.
Friend A says: Today is Saturday.
Friend B says: Today is Tuesday.
What day can it possibly be today?

Options (A) Saturday

(B) Sunday

(C) Monday

(D) Tuesday

Solution (C)
A always speaks truth on Saturday and B always speaks truth on Tuesday. And it is not possible that
both of them are telling the truth because two days can't happen on one day. Thus today can't be
Saturday or Tuesday.
On Sunday, B speaks the truth. So today cannot be Sunday also as otherwise B would have said
today is Sunday.
On Monday both of them lie. So on Monday both of them will give a day which is not Monday. This
condition is valid with their responses. Therefore today can be Monday.

18 A puzzle is given below. The goal is to put black circles in such a way that:
1. The positions of black circles in each row sum up to the number on the right.
2. The positions of black circles in each column sum up to the number at the bottom.
For example, if in a row there is a black circle only on columns 2 and 4, then the number on the right
for that row would be 6 i.e. 2+4
3. Place 'X' on the remaining blocks.
Which of the following options represents the highlighted yellow part, when the puzzle is completed?

Options (A)

(B)

(C)

(D)

Solution (C)

The solution of the puzzle is shown below.

19 Four friends A, B, C and D are standing in a straight line.

- A and D have one person between them.
- B is ahead of C.
If D is not at the last then how many arrangements are possible with these conditions?

Options (A) 1

(B) 2

(C) 3

(D) 4

Solution (C)
1. A and D have one person between them and D is not the last person.
Arrangement 1 = A _ D _
Arrangement 2 = D _ A _
Arrangement 3 = _ D _ A

2. B is ahead of C.
Arrangement 1 = A B D C
Arrangement 2 = D B A C
Arrangement 3 = B D C A
Thus there are 3 possible arrangements.

20 An artist takes 90 minutes to complete a single painting excluding 15 minutes of paint refill which he
needs after every one hour. He needs to complete 4 paintings by 7:00pm. When should he start
painting in order to complete all the paintings exactly at 7:00pm?
Note: Assume that the artist has one paint refill ready when he starts painting for the first time

For any queries, email us at - [email protected]

www.logiqids.com

Options (A) 12.00 pm

(B) 11.30 am

(C) 11.45 am

(D) None of these

Solution (C)
Since the 1st time he already had a filled refill, he can directly start with the painting.
Let’s assume he started at 12:00 pm.
After one hour, he needs to refill the paint and it takes 15 minutes (from 1:00 pm to 1:15 pm), Thus
the first painting will be completed in 90+15 = 105 minutes at 1:45 pm.
Now, he continued with the 2nd painting till 2:15 pm.
Last time he refilled at 1:15 pm, so this time he will refill between 2:15 pm and 2:30 pm. So he will
complete his 2nd painting at 3:30 pm
Now, he will refill between 3:30 and 3:45 pm
And after an hour, between 4:45 and 5:00 pm, he will again refill.
So he will complete his 3rd painting at 5:30 pm.
Now, he will continue to paint till 6 pm, and then he needs to refill between 6:00 pm and 6:15 pm.
So, he will complete his painting at 7:15 pm.
Thus, we see that if the artist started at 12:00 pm, he finished at 7:15 pm
So if he wanted to finish at 7:00 pm, he should have started 15 minutes ago i.e. at 11:45 am.
