Midterm Exam, 26th Nov. 2012, Time allowed: 75min
Q1:
A) Consider battery charger circuit shown in the
100mA
Figure 1; it is required to carry out the following:
i. Sketch and label the waveform of the current
ii. Calculate the average current of the battery 15sinωt
iii. If the supply peak voltage is reduced by 10% D1 D2
compute the average current and its duty iB 6V
cycle. Fig. 1 Diode Circuit I

B) The circuit shown in Figure 2 utilizing three identical diodes having

. I
i. Find the output voltage Vo if the current source I=4mA
Vo
ii. If three symmetrical diodes are connected as shown dotted in the
figure, compute the resulting output voltage Vo.
Q2:
A) For the circuit shown in Fig. 3:
i. Find the mathematical expression for the transient behavior of
both vc(t) and ic(t) following switch closing.
ii. Sketch the waveforms of vc(t) and ic(t)

B) Consider that you have two resistors of 1kΩ and 10kΩ and have two
capacitors of 1μf and 5μf as well. Use these components to design all
possible:
i. Single-network filters
ii. Double-network filters
Draw the locus diagram for all single-network filters.
