a. What is output? Define it.


Answer: Any information that is processed by and sent out from a computer or
other electronic device is considered output.

b. Define a monitor with its types.


Answer: A monitor looks like a television screen. It is a softcopy output device.
There are two types of monitor; they are CRT and LCD monitor.

c. Why is the monitor called soft copy output?


Answer: Monitor is called a softcopy output because the output of the monitor
can be changed.

d. Write a few lines about CRT and LCD monitor?


Answer: CRT monitor looks like TV. This is traditional type of monitor.
LCD monitor is called flat panel monitor. Now adays LCD monitors are very
popular.

e. Why is printer called hard copy output?


Answer: Output displayed by the printer is called hard copy output because the
output displayed by it cannot be changed.

f. What is laser printer?


Answer: Laser printer is a printer that uses a focused beam or light to transfer
text and images onto paper. It produces high quality print.

g. Define ink-jet and dot-matrix printer.


Answer: Inkjet printers typically spray liquid ink on paper through microscopic
nozzles. And dot matrix printers have pins that push an ink-soaked ribbon
against the paper, which creates images or prints.

h. What is the speed measurement unit of dot matrix printer?


Answer: Characters per second (CPS) is the speed measurement unit of dot
matrix printer.
