1- INTRODUCTION
This report represents the basic structural design criteria, design approach, and the properties of materials
to be used in the Design. This report incorporates codes minimum structural design requirements and
standards requirements to ensure safety, stability, durability and economy of the design of the mentioned
Project.
2- DESIGN APPROACH
A general approach for the structural design has been followed. The main characteristics of this approach
can be summarized as follows:
- The statical systems satisfy the infrastructural, architectural, electrical and MEP requirements.
- The statical systems are simple and easy to analyze yet capable of fulfilling the structural function.
- Basic and construction materials that are locally available and manufactured shall be used whenever
possible.
3-DESIGN CONSIDERATION
The optimum structural system for the Project units can only be reached through an integrated teamwork
between MEP, architectural and structural engineer and all other relevant disciplines.
All possible factors, that may affect the structural design, have been considered such as:
-Functional layout of the building based on the architectural drawings.
-The structural system capability of transmitting vertical and horizontal acting loads on the buildings safely
to the earth layers.
-Full coordination between the structural system, the MEP, architectural layout and the utilities and all other
relevant disciplines in order to satisfy the Project’s functional and aesthetical requirements.
-Proportioning the structural members to satisfy fire rating and thermal requirements.
-Effect of soil properties on roofs, wall and foundation type, concrete mix and foundation isolation.
- The method of construction and its effect on construction duration and cost.
4-STRUCTURAL DESIGN BASIS

2.3-DEFLECTION CHECK :
Option-1:
-change the Drop beam RB10 4 (200 x 800) to Flat beam with
width 800 mm and depth 300 mm.
-The actual Deflection = 36.5 mm.
-Allowable deflection = 6400/250 = 25.6 mm
-So, the actual Deflection more than the allowable deflection.
-This solution not achieve the requirements.
