CHEERDANCE

RULES AND REGULATIONS:


General Rules:
1. Only one (1) team with all male, all female, or mixed members may be fielded by each
grade level and strand.
2. Live percussion or band accompaniment, recorded music, or both can be used to
accompany the choreography. Music from tapes should be in MP3 format.
3. Respect for the audience and other participants must be shown in the dance, music, and
attire.
4. TRAINERS ARE STRONGLY DISCOURAGED from conceptualizing the
choreography; only advisers and students from the same strand are allowed.
GUIDELINES:
1. Know the Rules:
a. Understand the criteria, performance rules, and other regulations.

2. Costume and Props:


a. Costume: All participants must be dressed in their COMPLETE P.E. UNIFORM.
Additional modifications with the costumes are allowed. Dancers are free to
choose whether to go barefoot or in any appropriate footwear.
b. Props: The props to be used should fit the team's theme.

3. Dancer Eligibility:
a. Dancers must be officially enrolled student of St. Paul University at San Miguel.

4. Teams:
a. For grade school:
i. A minimum of fifteen (15) and a maximum of twenty (20) students can be
on the squad; including dancers, cheerleaders, lifters, flyers, spotters,
props staff, and musicians.
b. For high school and college:
i. A minimum of twenty (20) and a maximum of thirty (30) students can be
on the squad; including dancers, cheerleaders, lifters, flyers, spotters,
props staff, and musicians

5. Rule of the Performance:


a. For grade school:
i. The entire presentation, including entry, exit, participant setup, and props
breakdown, must be completed in no more than seven (7) minutes.
ii. Stunts and pyramids taller than one (1) person are not allowed.
b. For high school and college:
i. The entire presentation, including entry, exit, participant setup, and props
breakdown, must be completed in no more than ten (10) minutes.
ii. Stunts and pyramids taller than two (2) people are not allowed.

6. Criteria:
a. CHOREOGRAPHY – 30%
 Choice of Elements and Movements
 Style and Originality
 Artistry of Movements

b. PERFORMANCE – 40%
 Mastery and Execution
 Projection and Expression

c. STUNTS – 15%
 Technique and Creativity

d. COSTUME AND PROPS – 10%


 Visual Appeal and Artistry
 Props Appropriateness and Usage

e. AUDIENCE IMPACT – 5%
