CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
The program of practice teaching or internship is a form of
practical implementation for the student intern to experience the
actual set up teaching inside the classroom. The purpose of this
practice teach is to prepare these student teachers in terms of
their chosen field
One of the basic stages of the teaching career during the
undergraduate study is student teaching. It is the most important
10
phase of the teacher education program where the prospective
teacher practically applied the knowledge, skills, abilities and
strategies they acquired in the classroom.
The student teaching experience provides pre-service teachers
the space and opportunity to learn how to ask important questions
about teaching and learning, come to know children and adolescents
by observing and interacting with them consistently over time,
apply newly acquired knowledge, theories, strategies and models in
a variety of contexts within and across classrooms, and experiment
with, design and adapt practice according to learners' needs.
During the student teaching experience, pre-service teachers
are guided and instructed by two key individuals - the cooperating
or mentor teacher, and the university supervisor. While both work
collaboratively to support the growth and development of the
student teacher, each assumes a very specific role.
During this period, adjustment is craved for it requires a
wider understanding, patience and a deeper appreciation of the
teaching process. Wonders are discovered, hardships are overcome
and courage is developed.
CHAPTER II
Preliminary Preparations for Student Teaching
A. Lesson Planning
A lesson plan is a teacher's daily guide for what students need to
learn, how it will be taught, and how learning will be measured. Lesson
plans help teachers be more effective in the classroom by providing a
detailed outline to follow each class period.
When creating a lesson plan, keep the following things in mind:
first, consider the best activities and methods to use when writing the
11
lesson plan itself. It is the framework in which the lesson was set up
and coordinated. The beginning, the objective, and the conclusion, the
evaluation, are located there.
When creating a lesson plan, be sure that the goal leads to the
evaluation so that we can see if the students have learned anything.
Making a lesson plan was really difficult for me as a student intern
and a new instructor. There are specific steps we follow when instructing
students for a single day. You should consider certain methods or styles
for engaging the students' attention when arranging your lessons. While
they are having fun, they are learning.
We should also show them how to use it outside of the classroom. The
most crucial thing is to master the lesson in order to be a successful
teacher. This includes not only the teachings from the book but also the
principles and attitudes that they can utilize to realize their
aspirations.
B. Teaching Demonstration
Demonstration is a teaching method used to communicate an idea with the
aid of visuals such as flip charts, posters, power point, etc. A
demonstration is the process of teaching someone how to make or do
something in a step-by-step process.
With demonstration come justifications. You are explaining the lesson to
the students and probing them about their prior understanding of the
day's topic as you go. The most crucial thing is that you must commit
your lesson to memory since your students are waiting for additional
knowledge and information, an example they can relate to, and an example
that actually occurred in a real-world scenario.
My cooperating teacher advised me to do demonstration teaching while I
was a student teacher. Holy cow! My mind is racing with so many
questions. I can't stand it. I then had my lesson plan and teaching
materials ready and got started. I found that to be difficult as a
novice, but I didn't hesitate to take a step back.
12
C. Preparation of Instructional Material
One of the key components in teaching is the educational resources.
I should really give it some thought as to the best teaching tools to
employ. As a result, the students will likely find my class to be fun,
joyful, and pleasant.
The use of instructional materials is crucial because they aid both
the teacher and the students in avoiding the overemphasis on memorization
and rote learning that can quickly take over a class. Resources give
students the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning experiences that
help them build concepts and abilities and work in a number of ways.
Teachers frequently use books to impart knowledge. But as of right
now, we live in the 21st century, where technology is already present. I
always make sure the lessons are informative. I always used a power point
presentation to get my students' attention

CHAPTER III Student Teaching Experiences
i. Description of the Cooperating School
Background of the School
The NVNHS is located at Poblacion, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras,
fourteen kilometers (14km) away from the Provincial Capitol and the
Division Office, two hundred meters (200 meters) before the Municipal
Cemetery and 200 meters after the road crossing going to the famous
Alubihod beaches.
14
It is
one of the first Barrio High Schools in Guimaras that opened last June
1966 by virtue of the Barrio High School Charter. The school sustained
countless challenges transitioning from a barangay high school until it
became what it is now, the NVNHS.
At first, the school shared space with Nueva Valencia Central School
where classes were housed in 3 buildings, one room as office of the head
teacher and later the Principal’s Office while another room was converted
into a library.
For 15 years the school remained on this situation until it acquired
a site with an area of 46, 600 square meters donated by the late
Congressman Pedro G. Trono and his sister Trinidad Gestosani, former
Mayor of Guimbal, Iloilo, and 6,600 square meters was donated by
Purificacion Gotera and her children of Poblacion, Nueva Valencia to the
Municipal Government and the latter then donated the lot to the DepEd
specifically for the use of NVNHS. Being at the heart of Nueva Valencia,
the enrolment has increased simultaneously with the number of buildings
today; for there were catchment barangay Elementary Schools where
majority of their graduates flock to NVNHS namely: Napandong, Lucmayan,
Igang, Poblacion, Concordia Norte, Concordia Sur, Oracon Norte, Oracon
Sur, Pandaraonan, Tando and Dolores respectively.
Nueva Valencia National High School presently has the following
personnel: a school principal, 72 teachers, 1 public school nurse, 1
bookkeeper, 1 disbursing officer, 1 registrar, 3 ADAS (Administrative
Assistants); all are nationally paid. Likewise, the school has 2 school
guards, 2 utility workers & 2 canteen keepers as additional work force to
help maintain the orderliness & cleanliness of the school.
Type and Location of the School
Barangay Poblacion where Nueva Valencia National High School is located
has total population of 4130 where majority of the local folks are
engaged in fishing and farming. It has a total of 961 households based on
the 2022 survey conducted by the Local Government. The total area is
15
620,432 hectares where 65% of the land or 403.28 hectares are utilized
and divided into seven zonal districts with a kagawad-in-charge per zone.
The school is approximately southwest bound from the focal point
Poblacion.
The means of livelihood of the people in Barangay Poblacion is
primarily fishing and farming. Others are engaged in small business, like
mango and copra production. A few others are government employees and
certain percentage is Overseas Filipino Contract Workers.
Nueva Valencia has several beautiful beach resorts and white sand
beaches, with verdant mountains and lush green forests. Foreigners and
other local tourists flock to different resorts in the municipality whole
year round making it a tourists’ destination and earned the title
“Tourism Capital” of the Province of Guimaras.
