Overview
PathLight is a non-governmental organization that has been working in the education system in
Belize since 2008, providing scholarships and teacher training and improving school
infrastructure to improve education. Our goal is to empower students in Belize to receive a
quality education that will help them break free from poverty and reach their God-given
potential. This four-year scholarship comes with requirements and commitment from students
and parents to maintain the scholarship throughout the four years.
These scholarships will be awarded to students who:
1. are in their last year of primary school and will graduate by June 2025.
2. are in good academic standing (80% (B) or above averages) over the previous three
years of primary school (Std 4, 5 and 6).
3. hold a Belizean Social Security Card or Passport.
4. have a high financial need.
5. have strong family support.
6. have been accepted to a high school in Belize City, Belmopan or Orange Walk.
Required Documents:
● Completed application form.
● Persuasive essay (200-250 words) by the student.
● Cumulative Card or certified copy of report cards for Std’s 4, 5, and 6.
● Recommendation form from the school principal or teacher.
● A copy of the parent/guardian payslip or job letter (where available/applicable).
● Recent Passport size picture
● Copy of Birth Certificate
● Copy of Social Security Card or Passport
Application Processing Timeline
● Application period open from March 3 to April 18, 2025
● Shortlisting process April 28- May 2, 2025
● Inform shortlisted students of interview dates May 5-7, 2025
● Interviews May 16-23, 2025
● Announcement of awardees May 30, 2025
● Information Session/ Contract Signing June 4-6, 2025
● Scholarship Award Ceremony June 18-20, 2025
● Scholarship Benefits Commence July 1, 2025
