We are already in the 21 st century and new millennium. According to

various thinking and predictions, 21 st century will be an Information Age
and a Knowledge Society. In order to prepare ourselves for the tasks and
challenges of the 21st century, we will have to improve our education and
training system so that we could provide necessary knowledge and skills
to cope with the challenges. Everyone is obliged to learn continuously
even the professionals because the knowledge and skills that we have
might already been old and obsolete. But talking all of these skills and
knowledge that we have to learn, we have to know the advantages and
disadvantages that will cause it. Tends are rising, knowing their causes
and effects is important for people’s awareness. We know that not all of
these trends has/have good benefit to the human beings. Take a look into
some of the most dominant trends and their causes and Consequences.

GLOBALIZATION

Globalization has now become a common term people used to talk

about. Globalization is being driven by market expansion, opening
boarders to trade, capital mobility, transportation, and improved
technology. The cause of globalization is not stop the expansion but to
find the rules and institution for stronger governance –local, national, and
global-to preserve the advantages of global markets and competition, but
also to provide enough space for human community and environmental
resources to ensure that globalization works for people not just pupils
research. There are two viewpoints of globalization: the advocates and the
opponents

 Emphasis on economic  Rich getting richer, poor
growth getting poorer

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

With the advancement of various technologies especially in the

communications world, everything is almost instant. Innovation of products,
goods and services has been developed to create something new. Among the
main elements that underpinning the development of science and technology
are the increasingly driven-nature of innovation, the quickly changing
organization of research, driven by informatics, collaboration and the sharing
of knowledge; rapidly improving connectivity and the development of
platforms technologies and standard of globalization accelerates; and
changes in markets, the competition environment and technology. Because
of this rapid technological advancement it brings impacts in the civilization of
the human beings. The effects of these have been replacing the traditional
into modern orientation. Technologies have been providing a lot of
development in terms of agriculture, medicine, communications, and
manufacturing. Seeing the progress of technology would mean putting the
people under euphoria, because supplying information and offering responses
are instant. As the internet expands, some people believe nations will be
replaced by cyber communities.

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGY

The process of transmission of information and communication has

becoming so fast because of technology. The Information and
Communications Technology have grown into a wide-range that even a young
kid already knows how to use electronic devices. The rapid expansion of ICT
for many reasons is for economic growth. In most developed countries, ICT is
important and a necessity especially in terms of economic growth and
development. Because of this trend in ICT, even the Asian and other
developing countries have to expand in order to compete in this modern
world. The growth of ICT has increasingly results in increase great demands
for products, goods, services. It also increases the skills in efficiency and
production in economic activities. Internet brings chance to global trade. E-
commerce has already become a reality. Because of this innovative
development people have become digitally literate. They were able to use,
compose, send and access information through different media platforms.

As the world continues to change, people must learn to adapt it. These
