2. Plot
The film opens in late 1988, in the town of Derry, Bill folds a paper boat for his
younger brother Georgie. Georgie happily took the paper boat and ran out of the
house, in the rain, the boy dropped the boat into the stream on the road. The boy
happily ran after the boat but accidentally hit a barrier and fell. There wouldn't have
been much to say if the boat hadn't drifted away and fallen into the drain. The boy
panicked and looked down the drain when he saw a clown. Then the boy reached out
to grab the boat when the clown bit his arm off and was dragged down the drain.
Summer came, and after a few things happened, the children met. At the same time,
the clown Pennywise began to appear in the town of Derry. Gradually, the children
also realized the existence of Pennywise. They rely on clues left by Bill's grandfather.
After that, they went to explore the places found on the map found such as the
abandoned house at the end of town, the tunnel leading from the tube in the forest.
After defeating Pennywise in the sewers, they rendezvous on a lawn in town, slit their
hands, and swore an oath that if Pennywise ever came back when they were grown
up, they would have to come back and kill the clown once and for all. Again.
3. Professional assesment
- IT is really scary, gore, but there are also moments of extreme humor and
lovable romance. This is one of my favorite movies of the year - by Erik
David
- It’ Brings Back Stephen King’s Killer Clown - by New York Times
- Clowns are creepy no matter what. We can all agree on that, right?
But Pennywise, the dancing clown who tracks down and torments the children
of small-town Maine in “It,” is deeply unsettling. At least, he is in the latest
incarnation of Stephen King’s iconic novel. Infamously, Tim Curry’s take on
the character in the 1990 TV miniseries version was so over-the-top, it was
laughable—not that you’re looking for understatement in your homicidal
clowns. – by Roger Ebert
IMDb rating: 7.3/10
4. Outstanding awards and revenue:
- Outstanding awards: Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films,
USA, Bram Stoker, Golden Trailer Awards, MTV Movie + TV Awards 2018,…
- Revenue: more than 700 million USD.
