The transition from theoretical learning to practical application is a crucial phase in the
educational journey of any student. At Sarala Birla University, Ranchi, Jharkhand (SBU), we
understand the significance of bridging this gap through our meticulously designed Summer
Internship Program (SIP). This program is not merely an academic requirement but a
transformative experience that prepares students for the dynamic and demanding corporate
world.
The Summer Internship Program at SBU is an integral part of our curriculum aimed at providing
students with a robust platform to apply their classroom knowledge in real-world settings. This
handbook serves as a comprehensive guide for students, offering insights into the objectives,
structure, and expectations of the internship program. It outlines the stages of the internship from
the initial preparation to the final evaluation, ensuring that students are well-prepared and
informed at every step of their journey.
The role of Faculty Guide and Industry Guide is pivotal in this program. Their guidance and
support ensure that students navigate their internships successfully, gaining maximum benefit
from their experiences. The collaboration between academia and industry through SIP
exemplifies our commitment to holistic education and the professional readiness of our students.
We are confident that this handbook will be an indispensable resource for students, providing
them with the necessary tools and knowledge to make the most of their internships. I urge all
students to approach their internships with enthusiasm, dedication, and a willingness to learn.
The experiences and insights gained during SIP will be instrumental in shaping your future
careers and personal growth.
The Summer Internship Program (SIP) at Sarala Birla University (SBU) plays a pivotal role in
bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge gained in classrooms and practical application in
the dynamic corporate world. Designed as an integral part of the educational curriculum, SIP
provides students with an immersive four to six weeks internship experience at various
organizations. For undergraduate students, this period spans between the end of Semester IV and
the beginning of Semester V, while postgraduate students undertake their internships between
Semesters II and III.
Internships at SBU are more than mere practical exercises; they simulate real-world work
environments, exposing students to the rigors of professional life. Beyond technical skills,
interns cultivate essential social skills through interactions with seasoned professionals,
preparing them for the demands of their future careers.
Each student participating in the internship program is assigned a dedicated SBU faculty Guide
who provides guidance and oversight throughout the internship period. Additionally, an industry
representative from the hosting organization collaborates closely with the faculty to monitor and
evaluate the student's progress, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
This handbook serves as a comprehensive guide for students participating in the SIP, detailing
essential guidelines, expectations, and the framework necessary for a successful internship
journey at SBU. It aims to equip students with the tools and insights needed to navigate and
maximize their internship experience, contributing to their personal growth and professional
development.
