BRAND NAME / LOGO

Insert a brief 2-3 sentence paragraph here about the brand and what they’re
known for so you can give a proper introduction. Remember, the logo guide
isn’t just going to be for the people within the company, but for people outside
it as well that will be given the responsibility to handle the logo.

01 Primary Logo
Present the primary logo to be used
by the brand, this would usually be
the vertical or horizontal lockup, if a
combination logo is used (icon +
wordmark) because it presents an
easy indicator of the brand plus the

L
brand name.

Add a descriptor for the primary

logo and why this particular one
should be used to present the
brand.

02 Elements
This is the space to discuss the
meaning of the different parts of the
logo, for the example provided, it
can be broken down into the icon
“ L” I C O N “LOGO” WORDMARK
and the wordmark.

ICON

The “L” icon represents the letter “L”
in the “LOGO” wordmark and

LOGO
provides an easier brand recall.

WORDMARK

The “LOGO” wordmark was created

with bold letters and clear spacing
with a more subtle design to allow
L
the icon to standout.

The logo to the right doesn’t give

much to describe, so be more
elaborate when it comes to your
own logo.

03 System
This portion of the logo guide
discusses the different lockups and
L
how they work together on different
applications to create a system.

L LOGO
VERTICAL LOCKUP

Usually the primary logo because of
LOGO
ease of use and contains the icon
and wordmark in one, can easily
communicate who the brand is.

VERTICAL LOCKUP H O R I Z O N TA L L O C K U P
HORIZONTAL LOCKUP

Usually the secondary logo, if the

vertical lockup is not a good fit for
the application.

ICON LOCKUP

Used when the name of the brand is

already established, such as a
profile picture or in moments when

L LOGO
a smaller application of the brand
mark is necessary.

WORDMARK LOCKUP

Used when the icon is already

present or a simpler representation
of the brand name is required.

04 Construction

This part of the logo guide talks

about the construction of the logo.

Not all logos have proper

alignments and measurements,

especially the ones that are organic

in form (like Coca-Cola or KFC).

However, for the ones that do have

measurements, you can use this

portion to show those and to give

the proper breakdown.

This allows other designers to see

that the logo was properly made

L LOGO
and the spacing should not be

altered between the different

lockups.

05 Colors GRAY BLACK WHITE

This portion of the logo guide talks
about the colors that will be used
for the logo (not necessarily the
entire brand).

This usually contains the primary

color, along with neutral colors such
as black and white to allow the logo
to be used on multiple backgrounds.

Remember, if a logo can’t operate in

black or white, then it probably
needs some more work.

For the guide on the right, make

sure to add the basic HEX, RGB, and
CMYK codes to ensure consistency
and accuracy when picking out
colors.

05 Colors
This is part two of the colors, and
usually we just like to show the logo
on different colored backgrounds to

L L
show good examples of contrast.

For the logo that you’ll show, it can

be any of the lockups.

Also note that these are not the

only ways to use color with the
logo, but are simply examples to
show proper usage.

As a general rule, the more clear

space around the logo, the better.

You can discuss the type of spacing

you’d want for your logos, but LOCKUPS WITHOUT ICON

sufficient unit of measurement
