Conditions:
1) Ablution
2) Niyyah
3) Entrance of Time
4) Covering the Awrah
5) Purity
a- having ghusl
b- Purity of clothes, body, and place
Pillars:
1) Stand upright if you are able[1]
2) Takbeera-Tul-Ihraam[2]
3) Recite Al- Fatiha (with proper pauses-Sunnah)[8]
4) Perform ruku’[12]
Following are sunnahs of ruku’:
a- Head should be straight neither tilted up nor bent down
b- Grab knees with fingers spread
c- Keep back straight
d- Look in way at any spot that your straightnes of head is not compromised as the way to do it is
not mentioned in Sunnah
5) Perform Sujood[18]
Sunnahs for sujood are:
a- Hands should be pointed towards qibla
b- Hands should either be placed next to shoulders or a little bit closer to ears
c- Knees should be wide apart
d- Feet should be close to each other, erect and toes pointing qibla
e- Arms should be wide and apart from body
f- Belly should not be touching the thighs
6) After performing the sujood of the last rak’a sit for tashahhud(last)
Sunnah of last tashahhud is to sit in a way that right foot is erect left foot is placed on the right side
under the right leg and left buttock is on the ground with left hand grabbing the knee and right hand on
the right thigh with index finger pointing and shaking
7) Once all the supplications are completed, Say Salam to conclude the prayer.
Sunnahs of saying salam:
a- Head should be first turned right then to the left simultaneously with the saying of salam, upto an
extent so that the person behind the one who is praying can see his cheeks
Mandatory Acts:
1) Look at the site of prostration[4]
2) Say takbeer of ruku’(while moving- Sunnah)[11]
3) Say dhikr of ruku’ (one time minimum)[13]
4) Say
َسِمَع الَّلُه ِلَمْن َحِمَدُه
while rising from ruku’[14]
5) Say
َر َّبَنا َوَلَك اْلَح ْمُد َح ْمًدا َكِثيًر ا َطِّيًبا ُمَباَر ًكا ِفيِه
after Sami’ Allah[16]
6) Say takbeer for going to Sujood(while moving downwards- Sunnah)[17]
7) Perform Sujood on 7 bones
8)Say dhikr of Sujood (one time minimum)[19]
9) Sit between the two sujood[20]
Sunnahs of sitting:
a- Sit on left foot with right one being erect(Sunnah for sitting during prayer but not in last tashahhud)
10) Move lips and tongue while saying any dhikr, recitation or supplication
11) After two rak’as it is mandatory to sit for tashahhud(if it is 4 or 3 rak’a prayer but if it’s a two rak’a
prayer then it becomes a pillar)[23]
12) In Tashahhud(Both first and last) say
َأ
لَّتِح َّياُت ِلَّلِه َوالَّصَلَواُت َوالَّطِّيَباُت الَّس َالُم َعَلْيَك ُّيَها الَّنِبُّي َوَر ْح َمُة الَّلِه َوَبَر َكاُتُه الَّس َالُم َعَلْيَنا َوَعَلى ِع َباِد الَّلِه
َأ َأ َأ َأ
الَّصاِلِحيَن ْش َهُد ْن َال ِإَلَه ِإَّال الَّلُه َو ْش َهُد َّن ُمَح َّمًدا َعْبُدُه َوَر ُس وُل
13)Then, Say(Only in last tashahhud)
ْل ْل ْل ْل َأ َّل
ال ُهَّم ِإِّني ُعوُذ ِبَك ِمْن َعَذاِب َج َهَّنَم َوِمْن َعَذاِب ا َقْبِر َوِمْن ِفْتَنِة ا َمْحَيا َوا َمَماِت َوِمْن َش ِّر ِفْتَنِة ا َمِس يِح
الَّدَّج اِل
13) Just before saying Salam, Say
الَّلُهَّم َأِعِّني َعَلى ِذْكِرَك َوُش ْكِرَك َوُحْس ِن ِع َباَدِتَك
14) Hands should not be moved during prayer(It is prohibited by Prophet Muhammad(P.B.U.H))
Sunnah Acts:
1) Raising hands for Takbeera-Tul-Ihraam (Facing towards qibla)[2_a]
Can be in any of following ways:
a- Before Takbeera-Tul-Ihraam
b- Alongside Takbeera-Tul-Ihraam(My personal choice)
c- After Takbeera-Tul-Ihraam
Can be upto following extent:
a- Ears
b- Shoulders
Note: Better is to raise hands in such a way that palms oppose shoulders and fingers oppose
ears.
2) Put right hand over the left hand, wrist, and forearm[3]
3) Recite Dua Al-Istiftah[5]
4) Recite Dua for seeking refuge from Shaytan[6]
5) Recite Bismillah[7]
6) Recite atleast a verse of Qur’an[9]
7) Raise hands before going to ruku’[10]
8) Raise hands after rising from ruku’ (and preferably put right on left again as is done at 3 rd step-not
mentioned directly in sunnah but can be concluded)[15]
9) Say
َر ِّب اْغِفْر ِلي،َر ِّب اْغِفْر ِلي
while sitting in between two sujood[21]
10) After both of the sujood are done and Sunnah is to perform Jalsah al-Istiraahah i.e sitting for a
while,just before getting up for second rak’a[22]
11) Sunnah way of rising up from the sitting position is by getting support from both hands by putting
them on ground and rise up
