Four Weeks Structural Design Class

The document outlines a four-week structural design class focusing on R.C.C and steel, covering software installation, design principles, and analysis techniques using tools like ETABS, Safe, Idea Statica, and AutoCAD. Key topics include structural modeling, load definitions, footing analysis, connection design, and preparation of structural reports for municipal approval. The course also offers 24/7 support for students to ask questions post-class.

FOUR WEEKS STRUCTURAL DESIGN CLASS

R.C.C AND STEEL

COURSE CONTENT:
1. Installation of Soft wares that we use during our class:
a) ETABS - For Design and Analysis of Building above
Base
b) Safe - For Design and Analysis of Footing
c) Idea Statica - For steel section connections
d) Auto Cad - For Structural Drawings
2. ETABS:
 Learning ETABS interface
 Grid formation.
 Defining material (Explaining Material properties in Etabs, how to define any
material)
 Defining frame Sections (Concrete sections, Steel sections, Built-up sections,
non-prismatic sections and their uses). Stiffness properties in Beam and Column.
 Defining Slab and Deck Sections and their uses.
 Defining Load patterns (live, dead, superdead, wind and Earthquake; Seismic load
pattern as per both NBC and IS Code).
 Defining Diaphragm (Difference between Flexible and Rigid Diaphragm).
 Defining Response Function as per NBC and IS Code.
 Defining Load combinations as per IS and NBC code (Difference between
Parallel and non-Parallel system)
 3D modelling of a building (Column, Beam, Slab, Deck, Staircase, Shear wall,
Basement wall, Truss etc)
 Meshing of shells.
 Assigning loads in frame and shells (live, floor finish, water tank, wall, stair steps,
wind etc.)
 Assigning pier in Shear wall.
 Analysis of structure (Bending Moment, Shear force, Axial Force, Torsion,
deform shape in different load pattern and combinations).
 Static Analysis (Equivalent Static Method) and Dynamic Analysis (Response
Spectrum Method) using IS and NBC.
 Structural checks as per NBC (Torsional irregularity, Drift, Displacement, Mass
irregularity, Soft story, Model mass, B/C capacity ratio etc.)
 Design of Structural elements (Column, Beam, Slab, Staircase, Shear wall, Slab
etc). Arrangement/Calculation of rebar’s and Ductile detailing.
