4. Form a first order partial differential equation by eliminating the arbitrary constants a and b from
each of the following.

iii) u = ax + by + axy
5. Form at least two distinct first order partial differential equations by eliminating the arbitrary con-
stant a from each of the following.

6. Form at least two distinct second order partial differential equations by eliminating the arbitrary
constants a, b and c from each of the following.
i) u = ax + by + cxy ii) ax2 + by2 + cz2 = 1

7. Form a first order partial differential equation by eliminating the arbitrary constants a, b and c from
u = ax + by + cz.
8. Form a partial differential equation by eliminating the arbitrary functions ϕ, F, f , g etc. from each of
the following.
