c) u = ax + by + axy
5. Form at least two distinct first order partial differential equations by eliminating the
arbitrary constant a from each of the following.
a) u = axy b) u = ax2 + a2 y + z
6. Form at least two distinct second order partial differential equations by eliminating
the arbitrary constants a, b and c from each of the following.
a) u = ax + by + cxy b) ax2 + by2 + cz2 = 1
c) z = ax2 + bxy + cy2
7. Form a first order partial differential equation by eliminating the arbitrary constants
a, b and c from u = ax + by + cz.
