Background of the Report Provide an introduction to the internship report, the purpose of the
internship.
As part of our HVCO (Human Values and Community Outreach) curriculum, I joined Aarohan NGO to
support its members and contribute to their initiatives. This was my first experience working with an
NGO, and I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. While teaching elementary school students may
seem simple in theory, I quickly realized that it requires patience, creativity, and adaptability.
Interacting with young minds, understanding their learning pace, and keeping them engaged was
both a challenge and a rewarding experience. This opportunity not only helped me step out of my
comfort zone but also deepened my appreciation for the impact of education in shaping young lives.
Aarohan Overview Provide a background of the NGO, main Areas of Work/Focus and
Target Audience and Impact.
Aarohan primarily focuses on educating and mentoring elementary and middle school students, many
of whom face financial and social challenges. The NGO not only provides academic support but also
works to build their confidence and motivation, empowering them to overcome obstacles.
During my time at Aarohan, I realized that while many students had big dreams, they often lacked
guidance on how to achieve them. I had the opportunity to help them define their aspirations, break
them down into achievable steps, and instill self-belief. This experience gave me a deeper
understanding of their struggles and reinforced the vital role mentorship plays in shaping their
futures.
Aarohan supports children from underprivileged backgrounds by offering education, guidance, and
emotional support. Many of these students face hardships that limit their access to opportunities,
making the NGO’s role essential in helping them build a better future.
By fostering confidence, discipline, and a sense of purpose, Aarohan empowers these children to rise
above challenges and work toward their dreams. I hope that my guidance and encouragement made
a meaningful impact, inspiring them to strive for a brighter future. Education is not just about gaining
knowledge—it’s about empowerment, and I am truly grateful to have been part of this transformative
journey.
Your Position, and Key Explain the role you held during your internship, list and explain the
Responsibility during objectives set for your internship, and describe the main tasks and
Internship projects you worked on during your internship.
During my internship at Aarohan NGO, I volunteered as an educator, conducting sessions at various
centers, including Greater Noida and Malviya Nagar. My primary role involved teaching and
mentoring elementary and middle school students, helping them strengthen their academic
foundation while also building confidence in communication and interpersonal skills.
One of my key responsibilities was providing academic support in Hindi, English, Mathematics, and
Environmental Science (EVS). In language classes, we focused on improving fluency and self-
assurance, particularly in English. One of the most rewarding moments was teaching students how to
introduce themselves—a simple yet powerful exercise that significantly boosted their confidence.
Initially, many were shy and hesitant, especially when speaking English, but with consistent
encouragement and practice, they gradually became more engaged and expressive. Witnessing their
transformation was truly fulfilling.
Mathematics lessons were made interactive by using real-life examples to explain concepts like
division. Rather than just teaching formulas, we incorporated engaging activities, such as distributing
toffees among students, to make learning more relatable and fun. The joy on their faces when they
grasped a concept through these practical methods made teaching an incredibly rewarding
experience. However, the most enjoyable moments were during activity-based learning sessions,
where games like musical chairs helped improve teamwork, coordination, and self-confidence.
At the Malviya Nagar center, I also had the opportunity to oversee computer and tailoring sessions.
Watching students work on computers and witnessing young girls create intricate designs in tailoring
was truly inspiring. Their enthusiasm and creativity exceeded expectations, and some of their designs
were so impressive that we decided to document them as part of our internship report.
Beyond teaching, we also worked on enhancing Aarohan’s social media presence by creating posts
that highlighted the NGO’s initiatives and impact. This effort aimed to raise awareness about their
work, attract potential supporters, and showcase the students’ achievements. Contributing in a way
that not only directly benefited the students but also helped Aarohan gain more visibility was
incredibly rewarding.
By the end of the internship, the students had started recognizing us, greeting us with smiles and
enthusiasm each time we visited. Knowing that we had made even a small but meaningful impact on
their lives was deeply fulfilling. Giving back to society in a way that empowered these children, even
in the smallest capacity, was an experience I will always cherish.
Learning and Skills 1.Highlight the skills you gained during your internship (e.g.,
Acquired communication, teamwork, project management, research, report
writing). 2.Explain any new insights you gained about the NGO sector,
community work, and social change. 3.Reflect on how the internship
contributed to your personal and professional development.
1.Skills Developed: This internship provided a well-rounded skill set, enhancing both personal and
professional growth. I improved my communication skills by explaining concepts clearly, encouraging
shy learners, and creating engaging social media content for Aarohan.
Through leadership and mentorship, I guided students in setting goals, motivated them to
participate, and helped build their confidence. Teaching required creativity and problem-solving,
using interactive methods and real-life examples to make learning engaging. Working closely with
interns and staff strengthened my teamwork, adaptability, and patience, as I tailored lessons to
student needs while understanding their social challenges.
Additionally, I developed digital and technical skills through computer literacy sessions and social
media management. Organizing activities enhanced my event planning abilities, ensuring sessions
were both educational and enjoyable.
Most importantly, this experience deepened my emotional intelligence and social awareness.
Interacting with these children reinforced the importance of empathy and community service, leaving
me with a lasting commitment to making a meaningful impact in society.
2.Knowledge Gained: Through this internship, I gained valuable insights into teaching, mentorship,
and the challenges faced by underprivileged children. Working with elementary and middle school
students helped me understand different learning styles and the importance of making lessons
interactive.
Teaching subjects like Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Environmental Science wasn’t just about
academics—it was about building confidence and encouraging students to think beyond textbooks.
Many were hesitant to speak English, but with regular practice and motivation, they grew more
comfortable. One unexpected yet memorable experience was teaching Hindi, a subject I hadn’t
studied in years.
Revisiting grammar rules and reading passages felt nostalgic, reminding me of my own school days.
Another eye-opening realization was how disconnected the students were from current events. To
spark curiosity, we introduced simple discussions about national and local news, which gradually
encouraged them to stay informed and ask questions. Beyond teaching, I gained a deeper
understanding of their struggles and aspirations. Helping them set goals and believe in themselves
was incredibly fulfilling.
I also learned about the operational side of an NGO, the impact of skill-based learning, and the role of
digital platforms in spreading awareness. Observing students in tailoring and computer sessions was
inspiring, especially seeing the creativity and dedication of young girls developing practical skills.
This experience was more than just teaching—it was a lesson in empathy, patience, and the
transformative power of education. Seeing the students grow in confidence and engage more deeply
reinforced my belief that small efforts can make a big difference. I am grateful to have been part of
their journey.
3.Personal/Professional Growth: This internship played a crucial role in my personal and professional
growth, shaping me in unexpected ways. On a personal level, it deepened my empathy and
awareness of social challenges.
Interacting with students from diverse backgrounds made me more appreciative of my privileges and
more mindful of the struggles faced by underprivileged children. Teaching required patience,
adaptability, and creativity, as each student learned differently. Encouraging shy students to
participate and watching their confidence grow was incredibly fulfilling, reinforcing the impact of
mentorship and motivation.
A key highlight was interacting with Mr. Suraj, a dedicated NGO member whose passion for
education and community service was truly inspiring. His guidance and insights enriched my
understanding of social work and the challenges involved. Overall, this internship pushed me out of
my comfort zone, improved my problem-solving abilities, and deepened my sense of social
responsibility. It reinforced my belief in the transformative power of education, and I feel privileged
to have contributed in a small but meaningful way.
Challenges Faced During Internship How did you overcome the challenges
During my internship at Aarohan NGO, I faced several challenges that contributed to my personal and
professional growth. One of the biggest hurdles was teaching students with varying learning abilities
and confidence levels. While some were eager, others were hesitant, especially in speaking English.
With patience and interactive methods like storytelling and real-life examples, even the shyest
students became more engaged.
Keeping young, energetic students focused was another challenge. I found that incorporating games
and group discussions made learning more enjoyable while improving their teamwork and
communication skills. Revisiting subjects like Hindi, which I hadn’t studied in years, was also initially
difficult but soon turned into a nostalgic and rewarding experience.
I also noticed that many students lacked awareness of current events. To address this, we introduced
simple discussions about news and general knowledge, gradually sparking their curiosity. Balancing
teaching, organizing activities, and managing social media content was demanding, but it
strengthened my time management and multitasking skills.
With the guidance of Mr. Suraj, who provided invaluable support, I navigated these challenges more
effectively. Despite the difficulties, each obstacle became a learning opportunity, helping me develop
patience, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. By the end of the internship, I felt deeply fulfilled
knowing that my contributions, no matter how small, had made a difference.
Your Contributions to the NGO Outline the specific ways your work contributed to the
organization, whether through projects, tasks completed, or
providing valuable support to staff.
During my internship at Aarohan NGO, I contributed in various ways, both inside and outside the
classroom. My primary role involved teaching elementary and middle school students at different
centers, including Greater Noida and Malviya Nagar. I assisted them with subjects like Hindi, English,
Mathematics, and Environmental Science (EVS), using real-life examples, storytelling, and interactive
activities to make learning more engaging. A key focus was building their confidence in English
communication by encouraging regular practice, which helped many students overcome their initial
hesitation and express themselves more comfortably.
Beyond academics, I worked on enhancing students’ awareness of current events. Realizing that many
had limited knowledge of the world beyond their daily lives, I introduced simple general knowledge
discussions between lessons, gradually sparking their curiosity and interest in staying informed.
I also helped organize extracurricular activities designed to improve teamwork, coordination, and
confidence. Games like musical chairs, storytelling sessions, and group discussions made learning
enjoyable while strengthening their communication and social skills. At the Malviya Nagar center, I
observed and supported computer literacy and tailoring sessions, where I was particularly impressed
by the creativity of young girls designing intricate patterns.
Additionally, I contributed to Aarohan’s digital outreach by creating social media content to highlight
the organization’s impact and attract more support. This experience not only benefited the NGO but

Overall, my efforts aimed to empower students, enrich their learning experience, and support
Aarohan’s mission of education and skill development. Whether through teaching, mentoring,
organizing activities, or digital outreach, I am grateful for the opportunity to have made a small but
meaningful impact.

1.Skills Developed:
2.Knowledge Gained:
Through this internship, I gained valuable knowledge about teaching, mentorship, and
the challenges faced by underprivileged children. Working with elementary and
middle school students helped me understand how different children learn, and I
realized that making lessons interactive and practical made a huge difference.
Teaching subjects like Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Environmental Science was
not just about academics—it was about building confidence and encouraging students
to think beyond textbooks. Many of them were hesitant to speak in English, but with
regular practice and motivation, they became more comfortable.
One of the unexpected yet memorable moments was teaching Hindi. Since I had
stopped studying Hindi long ago, revisiting the subject felt nostalgic, taking me back
to my own school days. Explaining grammar rules, reading passages, and helping
students with their writing reminded me of the times I used to do the same as a child.
It was a unique experience to switch roles from a student to a teacher and relive that
part of my academic journey.
Another thing that stood out was how disconnected the students were from current
events. They had little awareness of what was happening in the world beyond their
daily lives. To help develop their interest in current affairs, we made it a habit to ask
simple questions in between lessons—about national events, general knowledge, or
even local news. Over time, this made them more curious, and they started asking us
questions too. It felt rewarding to see them engage in conversations beyond the
classroom and develop a habit of staying informed.
Spending time with these students also gave me a deeper understanding of their
struggles. Many had dreams but didn’t know how to achieve them, and guiding them
toward their goals was one of the most fulfilling parts of this experience. Beyond
teaching, I also got a glimpse into how an NGO operates, the efforts involved in
running educational programs, and the impact of initiatives like skill-based learning.
Additionally, working on social media posts for Aarohan gave me insight into how
digital platforms can be used to spread awareness and bring attention to social
causes. Observing students in the tailoring and computer sessions at the Malviya
Nagar center was equally inspiring. The creativity and dedication of the girls
designing intricate patterns were truly impressive, proving how important it is to
provide practical skills alongside education.
This internship was more than just a teaching experience—it was a lesson
in empathy, patience, and the power of education. Seeing the students grow in
confidence, engage more, and recognize us by the end of our time there was
incredibly fulfilling. It reinforced my belief that small efforts can make a big
difference, and I feel grateful to have been part of their learning journey.
3.Personal/Professional Growth:
One of the highlights of my internship was interacting with Mr. Suraj, a dedicated
member of the NGO. He was incredibly helpful, guiding us throughout the experience
and sharing valuable insights about Aarohan’s work. His passion for education and
community service was truly inspiring, and I learned a lot from his approach to
tackling social challenges with determination and a positive attitude.
Keeping the students focused and disciplined was another challenge. Since they were
young and full of energy, it was difficult to hold their attention for long periods. I
realized that incorporating fun activities like group discussions and educational
games made learning more enjoyable and helped maintain their interest. These
activities also improved their teamwork, communication skills, and confidence.
One personal challenge was revisiting subjects I hadn’t studied in years, especially
Hindi. Since I had stopped studying it long ago, teaching it again felt unfamiliar at
first. However, as I started helping students with grammar and reading, I relived my
own school days, which made the experience nostalgic and enjoyable.
Another eye-opening challenge was noticing that many students were unaware of
current events. They had little exposure to news or general knowledge beyond their
immediate surroundings. To address this, we started asking them simple questions
about recent events and general awareness in between lessons. Over time, this
helped them develop an interest in what was happening in the world, and they even
began asking us questions in return.
Throughout this journey, I was fortunate to have the guidance of Mr. Suraj, who was
incredibly helpful and supportive. His encouragement and insights made it easier to
navigate challenges and make the most of my experience.
One of the most rewarding aspects of this internship was witnessing the growth and
confidence in students. Many of them initially struggled with English, hesitant to
speak or introduce themselves, but through continuous encouragement, interactive
exercises, and constant motivation, they started speaking more fluently and
comfortably. Seeing their faces light up when they successfully answered a question
or introduced themselves with confidence was truly fulfilling. I realized that
sometimes, all children need is a little push, a little belief, and someone to tell them
they are capable.
Beyond academics, I became aware of a crucial gap in their learning—the lack of
awareness about current events and the world beyond their immediate
surroundings. Most students had little to no exposure to the news, and many were
unaware of significant national or global events. To help bridge this gap, we began
incorporating small general knowledge discussions and question-answer
sessions into our classes. Over time, this simple practice piqued their curiosity, and
they even started asking us questions in return. It was a small initiative, but one that I
hope will have a lasting impact by instilling a habit of staying informed.
Teaching Hindi was another unexpected but memorable part of my experience. Since
I had left studying Hindi long ago, going back to its grammar rules and literature
felt nostalgic. It reminded me of my own school days, and in a way, I relived that
journey alongside my students. It was a beautiful realization that learning is a lifelong
process, and sometimes, teaching can be just as educational as learning.
This internship was not just about classroom teaching—it was about holistic
development. I had the opportunity to oversee computer literacy and tailoring
sessions at the Malviya Nagar center, where I was amazed by the creativity and
dedication of some of the girls designing intricate patterns. Their skills reinforced
how education goes beyond textbooksand how skill-based learning can empower
individuals. Additionally, I contributed to Aarohan’s social media outreach,
creating posts to help spread awareness about the organization’s work. This
introduced me to the role of digital engagement in nonprofit work, which is an
invaluable skill in today’s world.
One of the most meaningful parts of my journey was interacting with Mr. Suraj, a
senior member at Aarohan. He was incredibly supportive, always ready to guide us
and share his experiences of working in the nonprofit sector. His passion for
education and his commitment to making a difference were truly inspiring. His words
of encouragement and insights into the challenges of running an NGO gave me a
deeper appreciation for the effort that goes into empowering marginalized
communities.
2.Future Plans:
This internship has also reinforced the importance of lifelong learning and
adaptability. The challenges I faced while teaching, organizing activities, and
handling social media taught me that no matter what profession I pursue, being open
to new experiences, learning from people around me, and continuously upgrading
my skills will be crucial for growth.
In the long run, I see myself contributing to projects that bridge the gap between
education, financial empowerment, and data-driven solutions. Whether in the
corporate world or through independent initiatives, I want to ensure that my
knowledge and expertise are used to make a positive impact.
