Ans: Amer earned his livelihood by buying and selling brass items going around on his bicycle.

Q#4: How did Maham react when Amer first told her of his plans? Why?

She thought it was just another pipe dream of Amer’s.

Q#5: What were same of the things that Amer had done to accomplish his dream?

Ans: He had saved money for years. He was about to acquire further loan from the bank. He had
met the old lady who owned the plot and negotiated with her to buy it.

Q#6: In what ways did Amer feel relieved, and why?

Ans: Amer felt relieved after telling Maham of his dreams. He no longer had to keep them a secret
now. That made him feel relieved.

Q#7: Do you think Amer was a dreamer or a practical man?

Ans: Amer was both a dreamer and a practical man. He dreamed a lot about a settled life. Then,
finally, when he had enough resources, he went ahead and made arrangements to build his café.
This proves that he was not a mere dream.

Essay: A picnic Party

We went on a picnic to the canal yesterday. We hired two taxis and took with us three baskets full

of sweets and fruit. Ayesha was already there with a servant; two tea sets and some utensils. Tea

was ready when we reached there. We took it with great delight. Then we began to play at the cards.

Some of us began to play badminton, others listened to the radio. In the meantime lunch was ready.

We enjoyed our meal heartily. Then we ate fruit. After that we had a nap for half an hour. Now it was

evening and we came back home.

Finite verb:
“A finite verb is vital to a sentence and is closely connected to the subject. It shows tense and
agrees with the subject in number and person.”
Example:(a) He taught us how to make a pie chart.

(b)Suleman teaches English to senior students.

Non-Finite verb:
“Non-finite verbs are not governed by the subject of the sentence. The do not show tense and do
not agree with the subject in terms of number and person.”
Example:(a) We allowed them to enter the premises.

(b) Looking in both directions, he ran across the road.

In the sentence above, the verbs “enter” and “look” are not connected to the subject of the
sentences. Although the non-finite verb “looking” suggests the continuous tense, notice that the
sentence is actually in the simple past tense because the main verb “ran” shows simple past
tense.
