4. What are the advantages & disadvantages of welded Connection?
5. Write Codal provision for maximum and minimum size of weld.
Numerical
1. A double riveted double cover butt joint is used for connecting plates 12
mm thick by using 22mm diameter rivets. Suggest a suitable pitch a rivets
and find the efficiency corresponding to pitch selected.

2. Design a fillet welded lap joint between two plates of sizes 200mm x
12mm and 200mm x 16 mm as shown in Fig.
Unit - 02
1. Define -
(a) Rolled Section
(b) Built up section
2. Write the steps involved in Design of built-up sections.
3. What are the components and functions of a plate girder?
Unit - 03
1. What do you mean by Flanged Beam? Write the advantages of T-beam.
2. Write codal Provision for Effective width as per IS 456.
3. Draw the Stress and Strain diagram of T-beam in all 3 cases.
4. Write the steps involved to find out Moment of Resistance in case of T-beam.
Numerical
1. An isolated simply supported T-beam has a flange effective width of
2000mm and flange thickness of 120mm. The effective span of beam is
4.5m. The effective depth of beam is 550mm and its width 300mm. It is
reinforced with 8-18mm( फाई) bars. Determine the moment of resistance
of the section Use M25 concrete and Fe 415 steel.
2. A square column 300 mm side carries an axial ultimate load of 1000KN.
Design the column. Use M20 concrete and Fe415 steel.
3. Determine the depth of neutral axis of beam which have effective width
of flange 1100 mm, depth of flange 100 mm, area of steel 2500 mm² of
steel Fe500, and concrete M 25. The width of web 300 mm and effective
depth of 450 mm

1. What are the differences between one way slab & Two way Slab?
2. What are distribution bar? Write it's Importance in Slab.
3. Write shear and deflection and checks, as per the provisions of IS 456.
• Design steps of One way slab.
• Design steps of Two way slab.
Numerical
1. Design a simply supported roof slab for a room 7m x 3m clear in imposed
load of 5 KN/m². Use M-20 and Fe 415 steel.
2. Design a two way R.C.C. siab for a room 4mx4.5m supported on all four
edges with corners are free to lift. The slab carries a super imposed load
of 4KN/m2 including floor finish. Use M20 concrete and F6415 steel.
Show the arrangement of reinforcement in the slab. Check in shear only.
3. Design a cantilever slab for an overhang 1.50m. The imposed load on the
slab may be taken as 1K/ m². The weight of finishing is 0.8KN/m². Use
M25 concrete and Fe 415 steel. Show the arrangement of reinforcement
in the slab. Check in shear and development length only.
Unit - 05
1. What do you mean by "Effective Length of column"? Write the effective length of
column for different end conditions.
2. Write Codal provision for steel Bar. in column as per IS 456.
• Design steps of footing for axially loaded column.
Numerical
1. A square column 300 mm side carries an axial ultimate load of 1000KN.
Design the column. Use M20 concrete and Fe415 steel.
2. Design a square footing of uniform thickness for an axially loaded column of
300mm x 300mm size. The safe bearing capacity of soil is 150 KN/m². Use
M20 concrete and Fe 415 steel. Load on column is 750 KN. Check in shear
only.
3. Design a square footing with uniform depth for axially loaded column with
750 KN load. Size of column.is 300 mm×300 mm, and safe bearing capacity of
