6
RESPONSIBILITIES / OBJECTIVES
(ASSIGN TO ME BY NGO)
During the course of my internship with the NGO, I had various kinds of work assigned to me. Since it was an
offline internship all my work was assigned to me through direct interactions. A total of 4 assignments were
assigned to me.
The first assignment assigned to me was to start a campaign against plastic pollution. “SAY NO TO SINGLE
USE OF PLASTIC” in this we went to different locations and aware vendors not to use plastic. As plastic
pollution is a global problem. Every year 19-23 million tonnes of plastic waste leaks into aquatic ecosystems,
polluting lakes, rivers and seas.
The second assignment assigned to me was to protect the environment by growing more and more trees and
work for the cleanliness of nature under “CLEAN INDIA, GREEN INDIA” scheme proposed by our honorable
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in 2014.
The third assignment assigned to me is to feed poor and thirsty people and spread some amount of happiness
at their faces. Main intention behind this assignment was to quench the thirst of the poor in extreme heat.
The fourth assignment assigned to me is to provide some clothes to the needy people. There are many less
privileged people, specially those living on the streets, by the roadsides, on the footpaths, inside subways and
under the bridges. It is very disheartening to see them survive in such harsh living conditions. We constantly
look out for help in any possible way will help us in making their lives a bit better.

MY WORK
While taking participate in this NGO, I got a golden opportunity to work as a volunteer in the NGO
work where I have learned many new things. As an active member of an essential NGO, my role has
been instrumental in contributing to meaningful social change and uplifting the lives of those in need.
With unwavering passion and dedication, I have been involved in a diverse range of projects that align
with the organisation’s mission of addressing critical humanitarian and environmental challenges.
From participating in community outreach programs to advocating for sustainable development
initiatives, my work has encompassed various roles and responsibilities.
During my tenure at the NGO, I have had the privilege of directly engaging with beneficiaries,
witnessing, firsthand the positive impact of our efforts. Collaborating with a compassionate, and
driven team, we have successfully implemented projects that have improved access to education,
healthcare, and necessities, for marginalized communities. Additionally, my role in coordinating
awareness campaigns has been instrumental in spreading knowledge and inspiring others to act for
a better future.

WEEK 1
Say no to single use of plastic
During the first week of my NGO’s initiative, we embarked on a environment projects aimed at promoting
environmental conservation and sustainability within our community. With a dedicated team of volunteers,
we rolled our sleeves and start campaign against “Say no to single use of plastic”. Transformation in the
society’s approach to the use and disposal of plastics for environmental conservation and sustainable
development of India. To significantly reduce plastic pollution in environment thorough creation of awareness
about the harms of plastic pollution and educate people at large about the safe disposal of plastic waste.
Our week began with thorough planning, where we made some paper bags and awareness videos against plastic
pollution. Next day we went to Damru choraha and start our campaign by spreading awareness to vendors. We
talk vendors after listening their statement we astonished. They said “ what can we do when plastic is made in
the factory?’”
Individual action is not enough when it comes to single-use plastics, and we recommend actions for companies
and governments to enable systemic change. Companies must act urgently to provide sustainable plastic product
and packaging options and information to individuals to enable them to make sustainable choices. They need to
reduce unnecessary packaging, increase recycled, reusable or compostable materials, and move away from
single-use models towards greater circularity.
Single-use plastics, like carrier bags, drinks bottles, coffee cups and packaging, are a big part of the issue. Cheap
and disposable, they are carried to the oceans from rivers and coastal towns and cities, or simply dumped at sea.
We also distributed some paper bags in the same week or made the vendors understand that the paper bags
should be used. Or ask people to bring extra bags with them from home.
9
WEEK 2
Distribution of juices
Distributing juices and water in hot weather is like quenching the thirst of both body and soul. It is a
compassionate act that provides relief and comfort, ensuring that no one suffers from dehydration or heat-
related illnesses. By coming together and extending a helping hand, we can make a difference in the lives of
those affected by scorching temperatures, spreading hydration, and reminding them that they are not alone. Let's
continue to bring coolness and refreshment to those in need during these hot days.
Distributed biscuits among small children
Distributing biscuits to children is a kind act that provides them with a snack and brings joy to their day. It can
be done as a gesture of kindness or as part of a larger initiative to support children's well-being.
Providing meals to Needful
"Providing meals to those in need is a profound act of compassion and solidarity. In each plate of food shared,
we not only satisfy hunger but also nourish the spirit and restore hope. It is a reminder that no one should go to
bed hungry, and through our collective efforts, we can make a difference in the lives of those facing adversity.
Together, let us continue to spread kindness and ensure that every person has access to a warm meal and a sense
of dignity."
10
WEEK 3
Trees plantation
During the third week of my NGO’s initiative, we embarked on a environment projects aimed at promoting
environmental conservation and sustainability within our community. With a dedicated team of volunteers, we
rolled our sleeves and got to work on reforesting an area that had been adversely affected by deforestation and
climate change.
Our week began with thorough planning, where we assessed the most suitable plant species to restore the
ecosystem's biodiversity. Collaborating with local environmental experts and forestry officials, we carefully
selected a diverse range of native trees and plants that would thrive in the region's climate and provide essential
habitats for wildlife.
As the planting phase commenced, our team worked diligently, digging holes, nurturing young saplings, and
placing them strategically across the designated site. This process not only symbolized hope for a greener future
but also fostered a sense of camaraderie among the volunteers. Beyond just planting trees, we engaged with the
community, organizing awareness workshops and educational sessions about the significance of environmental
stewardship. Through these activities, we aimed to inspire a sense of responsibility towards nature and foster a
culture of sustainability within the hearts of residents.
Plantation by youth refers to the act of young people actively participating in planting trees and contributing to
environmental conservation. It is a powerful way for young individuals to take ownership of their surroundings,
promote sustainability, and create a positive impact on the planet. Plantation by youth not only helps in
mitigating climate change but also in stills a sense of responsibility and environmental consciousness in the
younger generation.
11
WEEK 4
Distribution of clothes
In the fourth week , our initiative was to distribute clothes to underprivileged people. For that we had made a
visit to slum areas of the town and nearby villages. The goal was to distribute lightweight, breathable clothing
such as t-shirts, shorts, and dresses to children and adults. We wanted to ensure that everyone had appropriate
attire to stay cool and comfortable in the heat.
This experience highlighted the importance of addressing seasonal needs and the impact of timely support. It
also emphasized the value of community engagement and the need for efficient planning to handle large-scale
distributions.
12
OUTCOME OF ACTIVITIES
The outcomes of activities carried out by an NGO can vary depending on the nature of their work and the
specific projects they undertake. Here are some common outcomes that NGOs aim to achieve through their
activities:
Societal Contribution
If I actively work/ volunteer will help me to make a positive contribution in the growth and development
of the society. I can work for the cause you are most passionate about.
Increase Employable Skills
When I work for an NGO, I work for an organization that requires skills like accounting, finance, research,
raising and re-distribution of funds, punctuality, teamwork, cooperation and leadership qualities. I will
gain experience whilst working for an NGO.
Professional Development
Joining an NGO is like an investment in my future. I will develop professional skills to meet the demands of
the role and of the organization.
Better Networking
I get a chance to build my network with influential people and bigger companies. It gives me enhance to
know people with same as your goals as you.
13
LEARNING EXPERIENCE
During my NGO internship I have gained so much experience and the skills which I have learned are as follows:
Leadership Skills
When I work with a team in an NGO, I was often give a chance to lead a group of people. Managing a group
might sound easy but it’s not. There are decisions I need to take in everyone’s favor and which are right for us.
Interactive Skills
Working in a team demands I talk with different types of people with varied natures and behaviours. Dealing
with everyone with humbleness and not losing my temper is a quality which can only be learned by spending
time with people who are working together.
Working with an Unselfish Attitude
NGOs are basically non-profit organizations whose main focus is providing service to the society instead of
making money. Once this quality is developed, I won’t always work for profit but for a purpose which is
beneficial for others.
Cultural Awareness
Great NGOs do not see the caste or religion of the people for whom they work. That ultimate means when I
work with an NGO, I get to deal with people from various social backgrounds, religions and cultures ,which
helps me learn to adopt a new culture and working environment.
14
LIMITATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS
Limitations of NGO Training:
Lack of funds
NGOs are facing huge difficulty in finding sufficient and continuous funding for their work. They have limited
resource mobilization skills and are often not looking for funds available locally, preferring to wait for
international donors to approach them.
Poor Governance
There is little understanding of why NGOs are required to have Boards or what their roles and functions should
be. While good governance is very important for NGO accountability and transparency, many founders are not
willing to lose their power to a board and keep directing their NGOs in the direction that serves their interests.
Absence of Strategic Planning
For many NGOs, it will be hard to develop a strategy due to the instability of the situation they are living in but
that will put them in a challenge of poor planning and difficulty measuring their impact over time.
Limited Capacity
Many NGOs recognize that they have limited technical and organizational capacity building. The speed of
technology changes is also a challenge, particularly in areas of IT capacity.
Poor Networking
It was identified as major challenge. It is the cause of duplication of efforts.
15
Suggestion for NGO Training:
Review Your Current Practice
For an NGO to expand its organization, it is necessary to review its current practices and make improvements.
Every NGO must look into its current practices it has adopted while performing its functions.
Updating the Budget Template
NGOs must be specifically requested to add budget so as to cover the proper office space, staff training,
fundraising staff time, communication, quality computers and tools, etc.
Needs a Sustainability Plan
An NGO must prepare an action-oriented sustainability plan once funds are received. It must make short plans
with specific goals such as assigning tasks to staff, earmark budget, etc. that will help it in improving. A basic
template and instructions must be there.
Stress the Need for Continuous fundraising
Another strategy to expand and improve NGO must fundraise continuously and not when funding is coming to
an end, by which time it is often too late to find alternatives. It must add donors to their list of supporters and
diversify its funding.
Flexible
Many NGOs works excellently with dedication and performs high quality work, but have limitations when it
comes to fundraising. An NGO must build flexibility in how to utilize the funds.
16
CONCLUSION
It was truly an enlightening and enriching experience for me to intern with an NGO. While supporting the
wonderful causes of NGOs during my internship, resulted in the bi product of me developing a lot of
professional skills that I am sure I would benefit from, in my career in the future.
For the first time, I got a feeling of working professionally, working with great accountability and shouldering
huge amount of responsibility. This has surely helped me evolve my work ethics.
This internship also taught me the challenges and obstacles that an employee might have to face and still has to
go all out in the zone of discomfort only with the sole aim of delivering his work to perfection.
This internship, has surely helped me evolve a lot as a professional human being with discipline and dedication.
With the networks I developed, I am looking forward to contribute again in such a domain with my skills and
expertise as a tool for the development of the not so privileged society in our country.
This internship was also an eye opener for me to understand the condition of the downtrodden people in our
society and the hardships faced by non- profit organizations in optimizing their costs and resources for their
functioning. No doubt this internship experience upheld a lot of life realities in front of me which I did not
understand being a student in an institution only.
