Subject Integration
We are experiencing a global health problem. We are all at risk of catching
diseases, hence, health professionals issued protocols. It is upon us to follow and be
100% safe or 100% expose to germs and viruses.

Every day we always encounter events that are equally to occur. Will it rain or will
the sun shine?

Probability took a big part in our decisions based on the changes that are likely to
happen.
D. Discussing new Probability – possibility. the extent to which an event is likely to occur, measured

skills # 1
Probability of Simple Events
(EXPLORE)
The probability of simple events is finding the probability of a single event
occurring. When finding the probability of an event occurring, we will use the
formula:

number of favorable outcomes

P(E)=
number of total possible outcomes

The probability of simple event is the ratio that compares the number of favorable
outcomes to the number of possible outcomes.

(Show the probability line) (Integration of English subject)

Probability Rules
1. The probability of any event is a number (either a fraction, a decimal, or
a percent)
2. If an event will never happen, then its probability is 0.
Example: When a single die is rolled, find the probability of getting an 8.
Sneeze with eyes open
Living underwater
A dog flying
3. If an event is sure to happen, then the probability is 1.
Example: When a single die is rolled, what is the probability of getting a
number less than 7?
Earth still exists tomorrow.
Heart beats.
Celebration of Independence Day is certain at June 9.
E. Discussing new Examples:

(EXPLORE) you select one fruit at random. Find each probability.
c. If a letter is chosen at random from the word SAN AGUSTIN, find the
probability that the letter chosen is a vowel.
d. Find the probability that the letter to be selected is consonant if a letter is
to be selected from the word “FILIPINO.”

DEMO
Review:
1. Flipping a coin.
Answer: { Head, Tail}
2. Rolling a die.
Answer: { 1,2,3,4,5,6}
3. Selecting vowels in the alphabet.
Answer: {A,E,I,O,U}

What is probability?
Answer #1: Probability is the chance that something will happen.
Answer #2: Probability is the measure of how likely an event is to occur. The more likely an event is to occur, the
higher its probability. The less likely an event is to occur, the lower its probability.

Probability Line:
Certain - the event is definitely going to happen
Likely- the event will probably happen, but not definitely
Unlikely- the event will probably not happen, but it might
Impossible- the event is definitely not going to happen

Real life Connection:

1. How is probability used in real life situation?
a. Politics d. Board games
b. Insurance e, Cricket
c. Medical condition f. Weather forecast
Values Integration:
2. In this life, what do we need to increase the probability of achieving success in every endeavor?
a. Know Your Desired Outcome. When it comes to getting on the path to success, clarity is power. ...
b. Make a Decision and Commit to it. ...
c. Change Your Limiting Beliefs. ...
d. Positive Visualisation and Thoughts. ...
e. Get Around the Right People. ...
f. Take Care of Your Health. ...
g. Take Positive Action

Generalizarion:
1. What is probability?
2. How will you able to solve a probability of simple events?

Answer #1: How to find the probability of a simple event:

Group 1: Twisters
The word “Pinakanakapagpapabagabag-damdamin” has 32 letters .
There are 14 vowels
Favorable outcomes (vowels): 14 vowels
Possible outcomes: 32 letters
number of favorable outcomes 14 7
P ( E )= = = ∨0.4375 or 0.44 or 44%
total number of possible outcomes 32 16
Therefore, the probability of the word “Pinakanakapagpapabagabag-damdamin” on having vowels
7
is ∨0.4375 .
16
Group 2: Nutrition Month Fair
Favorable outcomes: Vegetable cooking Contest
There is only one favorable outcomes.
Possible outcomes:
(1) Vegetable Cooking Contest (3) Healthy baking
(2) Dessert Making (4) Fruit Curving and Designing
The total possible outcomes is 4.
number of favorable outcomes 1
P(E)= =
total number of possible outcomes 4
1
Therefore, the probability that each person ride in Vegetable Cooking Contest is ∨0.25. or 25%
4
Group 3: Historians
The Philippines had sixteen presidents. From the first who become a president was General Emilio
Aguinaldo and up to our current President Rodrigo Duterte. We had 2 female presidents. What is the
probability that we had female presidents?
Favorable outcomes: We had 2 female former Presidents.
Possible outcomes: The Philippines had 16 Presidents.
number of favorable outcomes 2 1
P ( E )= = = ∨0.125
total number of possible outcomes 16 8
1
Therefore, the probability that we had female Presidents is ∨0.125 or 0.13 or 13%
8
Group 4: Talking about Sports
Favorable outcome: Badminton
Possible Outcome: Badminton, Swimming
350 7
P ( Badminton )= = =0.58∨58 %
600 12
