INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR PRACTICALS
SUBJECT – PHYSICS
CLASS X
1. SYLLABUS FOR PRACTICAL

TERM I
1. To use a metre scale as a lever.
2. To find mechanical advantage and efficiency of a single movable pulley.
3. To find mechanical advantage and efficiency of a block and tackle system of three pulleys.
4. To observe refraction using a glass slab and to find out the refractive index of glass.
5. To find speed of light in glass.
6. To find focal length of a convex lens by using a plane mirror.
7. To verify total internal reflection in an isosceles right-angled prism.

TERM II
1. To find focal length of a convex lens by u-v method.
2. To find the deviation in the path of light which strike normally on a surface of an equilateral prism.
3. To verify Ohm’s law.

2. GUIDELINES:

The following sections are to be written in the laboratory manual for all the experiments listed above.
Refer the laboratory manual for writing the following. DON’T WRITE PROCEDURE.

⮚ APPARATUS
⮚ THEORY
⮚ OBSERVATIONS
⮚ CALCULATIONS along with tables
⮚ CONCLUSIONS

Important points:

⮚ At least one appropriate and relevant diagram is to be drawn for each experiment.
⮚ Index is compulsory. The index number should be same as mentioned in the syllabus
section of this document. Names of the experiments should be clearly written in the index.
⮚ Dates of experiments must be clearly mentioned in the index page.
