Summative Learning Journal Form
Week 1 Summary:
In COMP1618 at Conestoga College, this was my first week. It was a novel
experience because I had never taken a course of this nature. On the first day
of instruction, I was incredibly eager. Hiba Kassab is a very knowledgeable and
amiable educator. We got to know one another during the first period of
education. Our foundation for learning was laid when we studied the
fundamentals of the course material. Key ideas like using software, Microsoft
tools, and applications for academic, business, and personal scenarios were
covered. Data, personal branding, and digital footprints related to using tools
and apps were other subjects we covered. We discovered the curriculum,
lesson plans, and information about APA@Conestoga from the school of
integrative studies. She assisted us in creating print-based material
presentation slides. Although she taught us how to use it, I must confess that I
had previously discovered issues with Microsoft World. Of course, one of the
most beneficial aspects was the practical experience I got from various
programming tasks, surveys, and projects. To outperform our classmates, we
also participated in crossword puzzle tasks, which were fascinating.
Additionally, we learned about data visualization, recognizing false graphs, and
exchanging links. Due to class efforts to support one another in obtaining more
responses and views, we constructed graphs using our survey answers, which
was a great experience. The use of Turnitin influence me very much because it
allowed us to check the similarity of our projects and receive feedback. Overall,
I have learned a lot in this training, which has been both challenging and
rewarding. I am well-prepared for future sessions because I have a solid
foundation in the course on computer use in the contemporary world.
Goal-setting
Numerous beneficial changes to society are made possible by the growth of
the IT sector. Understanding computer skills like data analytics, designing, and
visualization piques my interest. The primary justification is that, in this
contemporary age, most job candidates across all industries, particularly for
online jobs, require computer proficiency. Employees required to complete all
tasks related to their jobs using a computer may need extra advanced
computer skills. For instance, graphic designers must be familiar with using
digital graphics tools, editing photos, and producing graphics for websites.
Computer information and skills can be applied in a variety of ways in
upcoming courses and jobs:
• Research, data analysis, and creating presentations or slides can all be done
using computer abilities.
• Computer proficiency is helpful in various potential occupations,
including technology, finance, healthcare, and education. It can be used, for
instance, in the finance sector for trading and financial modeling.
It's crucial to remember that having computer skills and knowledge is highly
valued in today's work market and can lead to numerous opportunities for
career development. I now feel more capable of navigating the digital
environment and comprehending how technology shares our world. I'm eager
to keep expanding my information and abilities in this field.
