SECTION B: (20 MARKS)


3. You are provided with the following materials: voltmeter, ammeter, 5 connecting wires, 100
cm nichrome wire, 1 crocodile clip and 2 cells in a cell holder.
a) Connect the circuit as shown in Figure 1 below.

b) Move the crocodile clip Y along the nichrome wire until the voltmeter reading is 2V.
c) Record the ammeter reading in the table of results below

4. You are provided with a 0-10N spring balance, water, a measuring cylinder, an object
labelled Z and a string.
a. Tie the object to the string and fix it to spring balance.
b. Measure the weight of the object Z in air on the spring balance.
c. Record its weight in the table of results.

d. Put 60 cm3 of water in the measuring cylinder.


e. Slowly place the object in the measuring cylinder until it is completely immersed in the
water as shown in the figure 2.
