Scenario:
ABC Fashion Company is a medium-sized business operating in the retail clothing sector. The
company has a traditional database management system hosted on local servers at its headquarters
(On-premises). Due to the company's rapid growth and the increase in the number of customers
and branches, it started facing several challenges:

- High maintenance costs: The servers require regular maintenance and continuous hardware
upgrades, which demand significant financial resources and effort.

- Limited scalability: As the volume of data and customers grows, expanding storage capacity
and improving system performance has become difficult without significant investments in new
hardware.

- Service interruptions: The system frequently experiences outages due to power issues or
hardware failures, impacting the company's performance and customer satisfaction.
- Backup and disaster recovery: The company relies on inefficient local backups, putting its data
at risk of being lost in the event of a disaster.
The manager of ABC decided to move the company's database management system to the cloud
to take advantage of cloud computing benefits. They selected a reliable cloud provider, designed
an appropriate cloud infrastructure, and successfully migrated the data and applications. After the
migration, the company observed improvements in performance, flexibility, scalability, as well as
enhanced security and disaster recovery capabilities.

Questions:
1. What were the drawbacks or disadvantages of the traditional system that prompted the
company to move to the cloud?
2. What benefits did the company gain after migrating to the cloud?

2- After migrating to the cloud, ABC Fashion Company noticed several improvements:

•Improved Performance: Cloud services offer high-performance capabilities, allowing the company to handle
increased traffic and workloads more effectively. The company likely experienced faster data processing, smoother operations,
and fewer service interruptions.
•Enhanced Flexibility: Cloud systems provide more flexibility, enabling the company to adjust resources based on
demand. This is in contrast to the rigid infrastructure of traditional on-premises systems, allowing the company to scale up or
down as needed without requiring significant upfront investments.
•Scalability: Cloud platforms easily scale as the company grows. The company can expand storage capacity and
improve system performance without the limitations of on-premises infrastructure, making it better suited for rapid growth.
•Better Security and Disaster Recovery: Cloud providers offer advanced security features and automatic backups,
reducing the risk of data loss and enhancing the company’s ability to recover quickly from disasters. Cloud providers typically
have dedicated teams to ensure data is securely encrypted, backed up, and efficiently managed, improving disaster recovery
capabilities.
•Cost Efficiency: With the cloud, ABC Fashion Company no longer needs to invest in expensive hardware or
maintenance. Cloud services operate on a pay-as-you-go model, meaning the company only pays for the resources it uses,
leading to significant cost savings.
