Company Profile
The Municipality of La Paz is a first-class municipality located in the southeastern
part of the Province of Tarlac, in the heart of Central Luzon. Strategically positioned
along major road networks such as the MacArthur Highway and accessible via
expressways like the SCTEX and TPLEX, La Paz serves as a gateway between Tarlac
and neighboring provinces like Nueva Ecija and Pampanga. With a total land area of
approximately 11,433 hectares and a population of over 65,000 residents across 24
barangays, La Paz is a steadily growing municipality that successfully balances tradition
and modern development. Historically, it was once a barrio of Tarlac before becoming an
independent town during the Spanish era. The name "La Paz," which translates to
“peace” in Spanish, reflects the calm, cooperative, and resilient character of its people.
Agriculture remains the backbone of the local economy, with vast areas of land dedicated
to rice, corn, and vegetable farming. In recent years, however, the town has seen growth
in small and medium enterprises, transport services, education, and digital infrastructure.
The Municipal Government of La Paz, under the leadership of dedicated local officials,
has prioritized good governance, transparent public service, and sustainable development
programs that aim to uplift the lives of its residents. Major infrastructure projects such as
road improvements, school buildings, public markets, health centers, and livelihood
programs have contributed significantly to the town’s progress. Cultural identity remains
strong in La Paz, with annual festivities like the town fiesta held every January 24 in
honor of Nuestra Señora De La Paz y Buen Viaje, drawing both spiritual devotion and
communal celebration. With its rich heritage, committed leadership, and dynamic
community spirit, the Municipality of La Paz continues to move forward as one of
Tarlac’s most promising and peaceful towns.

Summary of the OJT Experience
My On-the-Job Training (OJT) at the Municipal Office of La Paz has been a very
helpful and meaningful experience. For 486 hours, I learned a lot about computers,
software, and how an office runs on technology. I got to do real tasks that helped me
grow my skills and build my confidence. I started by restarting office computers to make
sure everything was working properly. This helped me understand the setup of the office
and why regular computer checks are important. Soon after, I began updating systems by
installing new software and security updates. These updates are important because they
keep the computers safe and help them run smoothly. As time went on, I was given more
tasks that helped me grow more confident. I worked on laptops, installed programs, and
adjusted system settings. At first, I was nervous, but I was proud when I was able to
complete the work on my own.
2
I also had the chance to fix a computer from another department. I wasn’t sure if I could
do it, but I stayed calm, followed what I had learned, and was able to fix the issue. It felt
good to know my work was helpful, especially when people appreciated it. One of the
best parts of my training was building a whole computer setup from the beginning. It felt
like solving a puzzle. I learned how to put together computer parts, manage cables neatly,
and make sure everything was in place. I also repaired a CPU, which required patience
and care. That experience taught me how to handle hardware properly. Another task I did
was updating a PC by installing the newest drivers and software. I saw how important it
is to keep systems updated to make sure they work fast and stay protected. I also learned
how to make a LAN cable using RJ45 connectors. I had never done that before, but I
followed the steps and successfully made the cable. Learning that hands-on skill was very
rewarding. I also downgraded a computer from Windows 11 to Windows 10. I backed up
all the important files before starting, and everything went well. The user was happy with
the result. Another task I completed was organizing an Excel file by removing
unnecessary columns. This showed me how important it is to keep digital files clean and
well-organized. One of the more challenging tasks was helping to fix the network server
in the accounting department. It had some connection problems, but after some
troubleshooting, we were able to bring it back online. This gave me more confidence in
handling advanced problems.
3
Part of our weekly routine was updating all the office computers while waiting for other
tasks. These updates helped keep everything running smoothly. I also did more tasks like
creating LAN cables and starting up PCs. Every time I did these things, I became more
confident in my skills. There were also times when we helped with other office tasks like
organizing paper documents. Even though it wasn’t related to IT, I realized that being
helpful in any area is also important in the workplace. It taught me the value of being
flexible and being a team player. Overall, my OJT experience was very helpful and
enjoyable. I learned a lot about computers, networks, and solving problems. I also learned
how to communicate and work well with others. Every task gave me something new to
learn, and I feel more ready for my future career. I’m thankful for the opportunity to train
at the Municipal Office of La Paz, and I look forward to learning even more in the IT
field.

Assessment of the OJT/Practicum Program
A. New knowledge, attitudes, and skills acquired
The OJT provided me with hands-on experience in maintaining and
troubleshooting various IT systems. I learned how to perform essential tasks such as
rebooting office PCs, installing security patches, updating software, and ensuring that
all systems were running smoothly. In addition to these routine tasks, I also gained
experience in configuring laptops, repairing CPUs, and building computer setups
from scratch. These activities allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of both
hardware and software, as I learned how to ensure their proper integration for optimal
system performance. Beyond technical skills, my training also helped me develop a
more professional attitude. I learned the importance of patience, attention to detail,
and problem-solving. For instance, when I was tasked with fixing a malfunctioning
computer, I initially felt nervous, but through calm troubleshooting and perseverance,
I was able to successfully complete the task. This experience taught me to remain
calm and focused under pressure. Additionally, I became more adaptable, realizing
that, in a workplace, it’s essential to be flexible and ready to help in areas outside
one’s direct responsibilities.
B. Theories seen in practice
Throughout my OJT, I was able to observe and apply many theoretical
concepts that I had previously studied. For example, the importance of preventive
maintenance was evident as I routinely updated systems to ensure that they had the
latest software and security patches. In theory, I had understood how crucial these
updates were to the performance and security of a system, but seeing it in action
reinforced the significance of regular maintenance. Another key theory that I
observed was problem-solving. I encountered various challenges, from repairing
5
malfunctioning computers to fixing network server issues. I applied theoretical
troubleshooting steps and learned to analyze problems methodically. Working
through these issues, I understood that problem-solving in IT is not always
straightforward and requires a mix of technical knowledge and logical thinking.
Additionally, I saw how hardware and software integration works in practice. I had
learned about the connection between hardware and software in theory, but during my
OJT, I could see firsthand how tasks such as installing drivers and configuring
operating systems directly affect a computer’s functionality. I also observed how
important it is to keep systems well-maintained so that both hardware and software
work together seamlessly.
C. Feedback that can be given to the company or institution
Overall, my experience at the Municipal Office of La Paz has been very positive,
and I am grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow. The staff were always
available to guide me through difficult tasks and provided constructive feedback.
However, I would suggest that the institution consider implementing a more
structured training plan at the start of the OJT. Having a clearer overview of the tasks
and projects I would be involved in would have helped me prepare better for each
responsibility. It would also be helpful if more in-depth documentation or training
materials were provided to assist interns in understanding complex tasks from the
outset. Additionally, more frequent check-ins with supervisors could be useful to
discuss progress, address any concerns, and provide feedback. This would ensure that
interns are on the right track and allow for better personal and professional
development.

D. Benefits gained
Throughout my OJT, I gained several benefits that will undoubtedly help me in
my future career. The most significant advantage was the practical experience I
gained in IT. Before my internship, I had only learned the theoretical aspects of IT
systems, but the hands-on tasks I performed, such as building computers, configuring
networks, and troubleshooting hardware, gave me a much clearer understanding of
how IT infrastructure works in a real-world office environment. Moreover, I
developed my problem-solving skills. From fixing software bugs to troubleshooting
network servers, I learned how to approach problems systematically and logically.
These experiences taught me the importance of perseverance, attention to detail, and
critical thinking. I also became more adaptable and flexible. As the work wasn’t
confined to just IT tasks, I had the chance to help with office organization, manage
paperwork, and assist in setting up servers or connecting the internet. These tasks
helped me realize the importance of being versatile in the workplace and contributing
to other areas when needed. Lastly, the OJT provided me with teamwork an
communication opportunities. Working with my supervisor and other departments
allowed me to improve my interpersonal skills and my ability to collaborate
effectively.
E. Problems encountered
While my OJT was a great learning experience, it wasn’t without its challenges.
One of the problems I encountered was related to technical difficulties. There were
times when I faced issues I was unfamiliar with, such as dealing with server
malfunctions or unique software errors. While I was able to learn through these
experiences, there were moments when I wished I had more knowledge or resources
7
at my disposal to resolve the problems more efficiently. Another issue I faced was
related to time management. Some tasks, such as transferring data between Excel and
SQL databases, took longer than expected because I was not entirely familiar with the
software. This taught me the importance of improving my proficiency with certain
tools and managing time effectively to meet deadlines. Lastly, there were instances
when the instructions for some tasks weren’t entirely clear, especially when it came to
troubleshooting. While I could always count on my supervisor’s guidance, having
clearer guidelines at the outset would have made certain tasks easier to navigate.
