Journal Entry No. 1
Today was the first day of my work immersion, and I started by cleaning the
laboratory. I ensured that all equipment was dust-free and properly organized to
maintain a conducive working environment. Cleaning is essential to keeping the
workspace efficient and preventing damage to the computers due to dust
accumulation. This task also helped me become familiar with the lab setup and the
various tools and devices present.

Work Immersion Program Highlight

A. New Knowledge, Attitudes, and Skills acquired

A. New Knowledge, Attitudes, and Skills Acquired During my work
immersion, I gained valuable knowledge about maintaining and troubleshooting
computer systems. I learned how to check and inspect hardware components,
reformat and install operating systems, and assess network infrastructure. My
problem-solving and technical skills improved significantly as I worked hands-on
with computers and networking devices. Additionally, I developed a strong sense
of responsibility and discipline in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
This experience also enhanced my teamwork and communication skills, as I
collaborated with others to complete various tasks efficiently.

B. Theories Seen in Practice

Throughout my work immersion, I was able to apply various IT concepts
and theories in a real-world setting. The importance of preventive maintenance,
which I had learned in my studies, became evident as I cleaned and organized the
laboratory to ensure the longevity of computer equipment. Network
troubleshooting and system diagnostics were theories I had previously studied, and
I was able to see their practical application when checking system units and
assessing the network infrastructure in the school. Reformatting and reinstalling
operating systems reinforced my understanding of system administration, driver
installation, and software optimization. This experience helped bridge the gap
between theoretical knowledge and practical execution, enhancing my confidence
in handling IT-related tasks in a professional environment.

C. Feedback that can be given to the Company or Institution

The work immersion experience was incredibly valuable, providing hands-
on learning opportunities that enhanced my technical and problem-solving skills.
The institution provided a well-structured program, ensuring that we gained
practical knowledge in ICT maintenance and networking. However, it would be
beneficial to include more in-depth training sessions on troubleshooting and
network configuration to further expand our technical expertise. Additionally,
allowing students to handle real-life IT issues under supervision would provide an
even richer learning experience. Overall, I appreciate the guidance and support
from the staff, and I am grateful for the opportunity to apply my knowledge in a
real-world setting.

8
D. Benefits Gained
This work immersion experience provided me with numerous benefits that
will be valuable for my future career. I developed essential technical skills such as
computer troubleshooting, hardware inspection, software installation, and network
maintenance. These hands-on experiences allowed me to become more confident
in handling IT-related tasks. Additionally, I improved my organizational and
teamwork skills, learning how to work efficiently in a structured environment. The
experience also taught me the importance of patience and attention to detail when
maintaining computer systems. Most importantly, I gained a deeper appreciation
for the role of IT professionals in ensuring smooth technological operations in
educational institutions. This immersion prepared me for future challenges in the
field and strengthened my passion for technology and problem-solving.
